Which Tig Welder should I buy ?

SP4000G wirefeeder and a smart torch.......

there are so many welders in the transmig series that its hard to find the exact welder....... sp, hd etc etc..... I just go on the pictures

hehe makes me cry too, not getting the time in the shed I want using the stuff..... having a battle with the birds crapping over everything at the moment.......
the shed being half way through the extensions, there is gaps that birds can squeeze through...... they dont last long though

harb probly do it for 12,000 + tax thats water cooled not sure if
it's the pro series or not as there was only the two listed in our cigweld
price list gas , water cooled. torch is worth 620 alone, for the money id run the kemppi weldsnake they are 6 mtr and feed realy well

which one did you get and did you import it yourself?

I have a Torchmate 1 in theory. But I have it on a 2500 x 1500 table with Linear Rails with the water table seperated from the main rig and a Height control on the Z axis, running a Cutmaster 20 with interface board.

I have found it to be very cool.

I sort of imported it ..... if that is what you call bringing it back in my suitcase.

If you do get one get the Height Control and upsize the gear racks. I also wouldn't waste your time with the cam bearings .. then again looking at you other toys I very much doubt you were going to, linear rails all the way .....

I am curious - How long did it take to get the Torchmate?
I order a 2x2 Torchmate about 1.5Months ago and I'm itching to get it.
Didn't order the z-Axis - but I am seriosuly considering adding it.

I'm currently welding an ally catamaran using kemppi kempact 3000 pulse with said weld snake at 6 meters and its a piece of shit. Always stopping to blow out liner and burn back because of poor feed from machine through the long lead. The machine itself is a good bit of gear and can do some real good welds and the double pulse feature is brilliant. I don't think i'd have any wire feed problems if i had a 3 meter lead that was reasonably stiff compared to the weld snake which coils and bends too easily. I wanted a push pull gun but of course they don't make em for that model (please proove me wrong). I'd definately buy one of these welders if it had the push pull gun and get the water cooled torch with settings on torch (not fun climbing in and out of a cat hull, the welder is small for a pulse but still a bit too heavy to cart in and around boats in restricted areas and thats why the push pull and remote control).

I flew into LA, hired a car and drove to the factory took about 9 hrs each way from memory so I guess you could say 18 hrs .

Without the height control you will be fine just use more tips and get less cut quality. If you are cutting heavier guage it is less of an issue.

I have started a build thread on it over at OZF.com.au and will put up more details over the next month or so for all to see. They seem to be quite rare in Australia, in fact I don't actually know anyone else who has one.

Not that I am aware of, even finding people over here than want to talk to you about such things is an issue.

I still buy all my parts for it direct from Torchmate no issues and cheaper than buying local buy a long way.

My first jump into an inverter welder was with one of these......Token Tools AC/DC Pulse machine....
I liked it because the bloke that designed them was the bloke selling them in Wyong just up the F3.......
They had a really good Diode pack in them and he offered unreal after sales backup....... he said he would never leave me without a welder.
I also got the water cooling pac as well.

Won one on Ebay for $700 so even if I decide to upgrade later on I am sure I won't lose too much on it lol.
Going to pick it up tomorrow and have a bit of a chat with the guy while there...

Now I'm on the look out for a decent MIG!!!
