By "speed" event I was thinking something along the lines of king of the rim challenge
in November....

I wouldn't call King of the Rim a High Speed Race. Fink is what I would call a High Speed race.

Yes, same here Ruff, I meant a highspeed race for the types of
vehicles involved, where they are able to reach whatever speed they are actually capable
of, with the long climbs and runs along the dirt tracks,

am I making any sense?

The Snake Racing Buggy would be more than capable of compeating at the Fink Desert Race. Pete's buggys on the other hand I imagine would be lucky to last the distance as they have not been built to go fast for any great length of time.

The Snake Buggy was built for King Of The Hammers style of events which are very different to our King Of The Rim event. There is no wide open desert style racing at King Of The Rim.

The challenge is on.. Basically it will be a set course that will incorporate higher speed offroad race style & tuff truck tracks. ( "snake" said similar to king of rim )

I will be fitting a larger radiator, new front drive shaft & some air bump stops. Maybe some Triple bypass shocks ;)

Most people underestimate the speed that my TT can produce.. Remember how surprising the speed of old yellow was Ruff & battle of the codes?... Ruff, with a larger radiator, bigger fuel tank & bolt in non-portal axles, I reckon an endurance race would be possible with my current TT. :) But yes definitely not what its designed for!

Either way it will be a heap of fun.. & should gain a huge following!!!

All true about the track. I wouldn't for one minute give an opinion on who is the best as the reality is I know peter can modify his car to go fast just like the snake boy's. Ruff hasn't seen the tracks we have install for the speed sections at the Offroad Boss Arena. The arena is big and has plenty of viewing spots as Ruff pointed out was lacking at the 1st event. This is not our thread but if you both decide you want the challenge i have the hills. Matsuoka (speeling incorrect) world dakar champion has driven a section of the track in a standard brand new 09 mitsubishi challenge and reached a speed of 85km per hour and thats all i could handle. What car is the snake boys challenging in. V8 or the V6
Good luck

I didn't have your TT in mind when I replied. I just assumed we were talking buggies. But your right with a Suspension tune and the Portals gone it could do well at a high speed endurance race. Its defianatly got the motor for it.

So when is the race?

Will there be any other contenders?

Who will be driving the Snake Racing Buggy?

Will it be on ONE HD?

I think what Pete was trying to say was if they were removed the TT rig could suit something like Fink.

Correct, the portals will be staying in the TT for this battle. Basically as is, but a bigger radiator is a necessity, the bump stops which I should have already fitted & a uni type front drive shaft, not cv...

Snake buggy will be the one used at KOR..

I am unable to compete in Tuff Truck "for now" & there have been minimal other events on offer, (though i'm keen for king of the rim in November ) I am truly excited to make this happen.

SNAKE will be running the Dunger V6 Snake buggy, same one at King of Rim. I believe Matt will be driving ( doubt Ryan will fit :) ) there buggy is probably about 250 to 300kg lighter than my TT ( with no weight in my front tyres ).

As long as I can sort out the front drive shaft, my TT will be a fast, compared to what most expect.

Stay away from the Vicar Schnitties for a week and your combined weight may well be considerably lighter also...

OK PEOPLES!!!!

Here it is, THE REAL STORY….Just so there is no confusion on what started this bet.

PETE claimed his OPW Tuff Truck entered truck can do 160klm an hour. That’s correct, in the trim it competed in Tuff Truck 2010.

Pete then followed up by saying our win at King of the Rim was SOFT due to the lack of competition. Regardless of the competition, it still comes down to a win.

Despite who and what happened to your rig. THAT'S RACING!! If ya broke or just couldn’t cut it that’s what competition is all about on the day.

So here we are challenging Pete to a Mate on Mate race– or should we say Bragging rights with a twist comp.

Come on Pete, here is the revised Challenge... $5000.000 to enter, WINNER TAKES ALL!!...

3 rounds, best out of 3 takes the $$$$$$$$ and the Bragging rights…

Endurance, speed and crawling. All the components of a king of the rim event and one hell of a off road race!

So “PUT UP OR SHUT UP” and let’s get it on. :finger:

PS ……. We will supply ya the bump stops and let ya fit a bigger radiator so you can drive for more than 30 minutes without overheating….. ;)

This is going to be awesome to keep an eye on!
How do we get tickets to said race??!!
And where is said race event taking place?

Did I just read right.... did you guys actually just say that you'd finish Finke in either of those rigs??
Hell cool rigs, yes - Finke competitors - I doubt it... you know they have a 4 hour timelimit for the way down right - and you know your not allowed on the service road right?? I reckon there'd be buggy bits from Alice to the 70k mark and then the drivers would cry enough..... that's before the big woops even get close!!

Do I hear an Ultra4 race calling! LOL

note: I love both these rigs but love stirring pot too

This is Brenden Harris one of the owners Scenic Rim Adventure Park creator of The King of the Rim.
I think the soft comment has got me very interested. The put up or shut up is something QLD's are very proud off. What's the state of origin count  King of the Rim is going to add another $2000 dollars to your challenge and donate the money to the Logan City Stroke Group.

How many Queenslanders want to see this match up?

By the way we'll let you have your fun internal battle at the King of the Rim, but you pure bloods (NSW people) always think you have got the best. Yes the snake team was impressive but I know there are more than enough QLD cars to match you guys.

The offer is there for your internal challenge. You two claim your the best lets see it on QLD soil.

Offer
King of The Rim 26th and 27th Scenic Rim Adventure Park, Beaudesert QLD.
Tracks are multiple speed short courses consisting of rocks, hill climbs and speed. Are you faster than our extreme/winch trucks and better rock climbers than our buggy/truggy. We will see.
Long track is long and extreme. The snake boys know the terrain but as it's soft, we may have to handicap Peter and make you drive it blind folded :D

The true test should see your times on top on all stages, what do the Qlders think about that??

The extreme/winch cars won't be in your class but you will overlap on a few speed tracks. I never thought I would say this but you may have just turned a NSW man through and through into a Queenslander.

So are we on ???????

The snake racing buggy(or one that looks exactly like it) seemed to have a bit of trouble getting up one of the step ups just before the 80 series climb at m last night. Crabbing halfway along the step till the climb got smaller :D The other 2 "buggies" (one looked like the bushrangie?) went straight up, as did most in the group i was with

I don't think it has to do with its wieght. If it was the snake buggy and the bushrangie It would be the wheel base difference.
When I first saw the snake buggy at tt I thought It would be ok all rounder for those who can't weld. But then I watched it crawl up here at "king of rim" it surprized me as to how capable it was, as both a go fast rig and crawler.
Its a wheelbase thing
