Kaymar Rear Wheel Carrier problem
ok i just spent ages and heaps of $'s on getting the kaymar bar on the back of me car and now i cant fit the 35 on the back
it hits the lock plate
just wanna know what others have done in this situation
i think i can either offset my wheel by 30mm or i can extend out the arm by 50mm by using spacers and a new faceplate
any ideas????????????????

Take the original bolts out... put in some longer ones, use 2 nuts to lock it onto the backplate, save you worrying about welding shit on. Otherwise, some locktite or silicone the bolt head to the backing plate, which will allow u to change the bolts over if u want to ever.
Cheers,

Buy a 1" wheel spacer. Bolt it on then bolt the spare to the spacer.
oozuk wrote:with the kaymar's you can usually slide the mounting head out of the arm and then re do up the 2 big bolts on either side to get the clearance.Have you done this yet ??
This sounds more like the hilift jack set up that bolts to the spare wheel.
GXL Turbo Diesel 80 series- 6" King springs + Rancho in-cab kit- 35" BFG Muds Twin ARB airlockers.

well the ones on the back of the old mans 100 series both have the ability to move fowards and backwards to allow for differant offset rims and tyre sizes

Why not make a wheel spacer, i mean it can't be that hard to make on a lathe...... but remember the further the bolts are out and the weight of the bigger tyres can make your brackets bend as some are designed to carry a certain amount of weight

Mine isnt modified. Its the rear bar and wheel carrier tho, not just the wheel carrier. Mine can slide in and out for offset diff. like james old mnas 100series.

yeh mine is the really old wheel mount circa 1985
its a totally different arm to the new ones
i like ruffs idea with the wheel spacer but im a bit uncertain bout how it is gunna handle the weight of the 35 so far out
i might weld on a brance on the bottom of it
either that or get a 33
i dont really wanna just use longer bolts coz that wont be very strong
the 35 is hittin on the lever latch thingy
