Making a frame to install after market seat

I couldn't find it in search engine but i'm after info on making a adaptor frame for a recaro to bolt into an 80 series. No problems making a frame mainly concerned about engineering certs to make it legal etc and what others have done.

I know, this is another answer nobody wants to hear but......
Have you thought of asking an engineer?
That's all I've done before I commenced work, just tell him what you want, and he will tell you what guidelines you'll have to follow.

Other than that I can't really help, I still have stock seats

Maybe someone who has actually done it can shed some more light into this but I'd start with asking an authorised engineer.

Here is a pic of a genuine Recaro base fitted to my 100 series, the seat sliders that would have come with the seat bolt into the end of the rod which has a thread tapped into it. This setup is mod plated.

Most aftermarket seats use a common rail spacing and mounting system.
You will need an engineers app to make you own.

There is a guy on the LCOOL forum advertising 2 genuine recaro bases for 100 series $140, might be worth a look.

Even if using the "approved" mounts you will still need to have it certified in your vehicle. (NSW Definatly other states I am unsure)

im wondering the same thing for my 45 series, i have a set of drift seats in it, were can i find a pre made set for mine?

When I got my last set of replacement seats approved (QLD), the requirements were to install 75x75x3mm steel plates with rounded corners (basically large washers) under each corner where the seat/mount bolts to the floor, and all bolts must be class 8.8 or higher.

This is assuming you aren't using the original mounts in the floor (which I wasn't). In my case I needed the seat to sit as low as possible.

save your money. 100sereis frames wont fit in an 80series
