hi all just wondering if anyone has had any experience with rhino aircon systems for the hj47 are they good, how hard to fit and are they worth the close to three grand

Does anyone else have trouble with rhyno websites? I only get the thumbnails when I click on the catalouge and nothing else is clickable? Couldn't see the aircon unit?

I would steer clear of that place..... If website is anything to go by... :shock:

My 10yr old nephew can design better than that....

This is a universal system that would suit a 45/47. I was going to look into it until I bought a 45 with factory air.

Try speaking to your local reputable auto sparky about it. When I had thoughts of re-doing my system that had gone to shite, I was advised that all the components could be sourced for around $1000, all you would need is a bracket for the compressor. Because it is a 2h, there would be plenty you could pinch from 60 or 75 series wrecks.

mate cant say about this system in particular but i have seen one on one before looked ok to me that is. but if you look at any machinery that want decenct cooling all use this type of roof mount setup. and they are in my opion much easier to work on and service

I bought a power steer kit from rhino off road. I had many problems: I bought a power steering kit at Rainbow Beach. The shop is called Landcruiser Parts and Restoration, Jeep City, Rhyno Off Road. I paid $2300 for the kit. At the time I didnt know much about power steering so it was a better way for me. Before i paid for the kit i asked does it include everything an if i would have to buy anything extra. He said :the kit includes everything from the steering wheel shaft right down to the swivel hubs".
The first problem was the kit didnt come with any hoses, no problem they say "we'll have the engineer make them up". That took about 4 weeks. When i got them it was obvious they were second hand and after putting the kit in i found there was a hole in the hose.
The second problem was the pulleys that bolt on the crankshaft were severely rusted, and just painted over (it didnt hide the rust). After ringing them they said "that has to be expected with second hand parts". So i had to get better pulleys myself. They couldnt even supply the bolts to bolt onto the harmonic balancer.
The third problem was the two steering shafts didnt meet up, the splines didnt match the uni joint, so i had to pay for postage to send them back and get a replacement.
The fourth problem was the crush pipes and the backing plate for the power steering box were the wrong size. The crush pipes didnt fit properly in the chassis and the backing plate holes didnt match up either. So i had to make up new ones.
The fifth problem was the kit didnt have a steering damper to match the draglinks. They wouldnt send one so i had to buy a new one.
The sixth problem was the draglinks didnt match the hj47 steering arms (on top of the swivel hubs). So i rang them, they said "youll have to ring a wrecker and get them yourself, we dont supply steering arms for the hj47 as they are different from the early types to the older types". After saying that he then told me to get hj75 steering arms (how did he know they would fit if they are different from old 47's to newer 47's? without me saying the age of my hj47).
The seventh problem was the engine mount was wrong, i later found out it was off a later hj75 and are different. I rang them and they said to take a photo and theyll get back to me, so i did. they didnt get back to me so i just made a bracket to bolt onto the engine mount. I also wasnt sure how to bolt on the power steer pump so i rang to find out and they said they would send me a picture, they didnt. A couple of days later i rang again, they said "i'll do that today", they didnt. so i ended up asking on 4wd action forum, a great help.
The eigth problem was i rang them after i put in the kit in and told them i had spent an extra $300-$400 on extras (i was told i didnt need to buy anything extra as it included EVERYTHING in the kit) and i was stuffed around quite a bit. About a week later i got a gift certificate of $300 to spend at Landcruiser Parts and Restoration. I thought "you beauty" and rang them as i needed new disc brake rotors, probly worth $100 or so. He said the gift certificate was only for second hand parts and not new parts and that if it was for new parts it would cut into their profits. I was not going down that track again with their second hand parts.
When i bought the kit he said i had to send the old steering shaft back to him as en exchange, as if i would do that!
Moral of the story: Dont buy from Landcruiser Parts and Restoration, Jeep City, Rhyno Off Road

:rofl: that is crazzzy mate. sounds like there the people NOT to deal with then. why not try like an underdash aircon setup like hotrods use. there would be heaps around the hotrod scene

I have a standard air con system I'm thinking of selling as half of it has to change with the V8 in there.. I'll keep yup posted. What motor are you running ?
