Thanks mate. I've got an adjustable draglink so I was going to put a GU tie rod on that end.

Thanks to this post because my friend was to able to put the GU steering box into the GQ. He had some troubles on how to put it but luckily we found this thread. It was really helpful and saves my friend some money from the mechanic.

Thanks OUTLAW565. Did you upgrade your steering pump as well?
I have superior adjustable drag link and I have had look at some pics of GU drag links . Can I rotate the drag link end at steering box 180* to make it fit?

The GU pitman arm has a different size taper to the GQ from memory, could be wrong though............

I have a GU engine in my truck already with the GU steering pump. You will need a new end on your draglink at the steering box end as the GU pitman arm has a different taper than the GQ pitman arm.

i did the swap yesterday and had no problems with the gq tierod fitting the gu box.ive done it many times before on comp trucks aswell
and never had an issue.you just have to flip the tierod end around at the pitman arm.

I have not used a GU end on mine, and the GQ one has not loosened at all as it has a castle nut with a split pin through it. Its done nearly 10 000k and no probs yet.
