Re: fitting a pyro
Any exhaust shop should be able to do it. Get it in the dump pipe nice and close to the turbo, if you have it right down the dump pipe your readings will be way out.
Re: fitting a pyro
cheers mate will they just fit probe or will they wire it up aswell?chunks wrote:Any exhaust shop should be able to do it. Get it in the dump pipe nice and close to the turbo, if you have it right down the dump pipe your readings will be way out.

Re: fitting a pyro
Put it in the manifold, dump pipe readings are close to useless.
Re: fitting a pyro
They'll just put the bung in the exhaust for you (in the dump). You'll have to wire it up and possibly fit the probe yourself. Honestly, its not that hard of a job - unless you're a complete gumby, you should manage fine.azwa wrote:cheers mate will they just fit probe or will they wire it up aswell?chunks wrote:Any exhaust shop should be able to do it. Re: fitting a pyro
^^^^ What coxy said.
As for the probe in the dump vs manifold, I know in the manifold is more accurate, but I think 99% of people run them in the dump pipe anyway.

Re: fitting a pyro
It comes down to what you want a pyro for.chunks wrote:^^^^ What coxy said.

If you just want another gauge, then in the exhaust is fine, but if you want it for tuning and engine protection then the manifold is the only way to get real readings.
Dump pipe readings vary depending on boost, turbine efficiency and EGT's themselves. There is no good way to predict upstream temps from downstream temps, fudge factors like adding 100-200 degrees are just guesswork, temp drops across the turbine can be over 300C.

i have already have it fitted into dump.KiwiBacon wrote:It comes down to what you want a pyro for.chunks wrote:^^^^ What coxy said.

cheers for ya help fellas.
