hilux with gq diffs
hay, I have a 91 hilux with gq diffs and 3in 80 series front coils all round. When it articulates the rear spring will either fall out or dislodge and get spat out when compressing, now the rear trailing arms have been lengthened but it does still 4 wheel steer pretty bad when the rear diff is articulating. im thinking of going with longer, softer springs but does anyone know if there is a kit to fix this problem with gq's rear diff as i think this is half my problem with the springs? thanks.
Re: hilux with gq diffs
A gq diff or any other diff for that matter has no bearing on whether your car rear steers or not. It is all to do with the geometry of your trailing arms(I presume your running a 4 link set up). Spring rate wont change rear steer either. Google pirate 4x4 and have a read on 4 link set ups.
Those who choose to drive in the mud do so because they can't drive the rocks.
Re: hilux with gq diffs
sounds like your rear lower trailing arms may be on a large angle most of the time
when this happens the arms move and cause the diff to move forward or backward relative to the other side
more than if they were straight at central suspension position
who set up your coil set up?

Re: hilux with gq diffs
What set up do you have in the rear.....3,4,5 link, as the boys have said changing spring rate will not fix this issue it is a setup issue. If its a 5 link rear end your pan hard rod will be on a large angle (needs to be nearly flat at ride hieght so you dont get rear steer).
You need to let us know more info before help can be given ...picks would be good to...
One more thing why did you ruin a good toyota by fitting POOTROL parts to it..
