New ratio calculator software, hope you like it !

Post by ashtrans »

Hi all,

we have had some software written for our web site which allows you to put in your gearbox, transfer case, diff and tyre data and it works out the engine revs at a given speed,

Ideal for working out what transfer case or ring and pinion to change to with different tyres etc.

hope you like it :

Hello

Wow - very nice done and very usefull! Thanks for that.

Just three little things - maybe worth to look at.
1. It dont works with the mozilla engine. It works after i pushed the reset button but it wont prefill the gearboxes after the page load.
2. A tyre has ~3% slip so far i know - so result should be recalculated.
3. Most tyres (not Simex) are min one inch smaller then printed on them. After checking a lot of tyres, i was amazed how they can lie so much to us.
My brothers 37" Wranglers are same height like my 35" Simex as example. Maybe worth to notice next to the calculator.

It would be nice to make only one gear as requiered field and not 1., 2. and 3. gear requiered.
I dont even know all my ratios out of my Nissan gearbox and i want to know only how fast i am in the last gear.
The field "max. speed" dont makes much sense to me. Just show the graph large as needed. Same for the low ratio chart.

Please dont take it wrong, that is only constructive critics.
I like the idea and i really like the output of the result. Very nice solution and nice looking chart!
Sorry for that but i am software designer (focus web) and see all this little things.

Thanks
Chris

Nice work,

Makes things a lot easier. Especially with the ratios for all gears!!!

I think it is a nice calculator.

Being picky, for those of us with low gearing, starting tabulated results from 10 km/h in lo box is a bit high. In 2nd low my diesel engine has to do more than 3300 rpm to reach 10 km/h - normally in lo box I would be in 3th or 4th at 10 km/h (or 1st hi).

It would be worse for those with underdrives and using a beginning speed of 10 mph in low.

Edited to fix error.

Hi Dave,

Doesn't work on my machine (running Linux / Firefox). I can press reset then it will allow me to enter data, but when I press "Go" it displays 0.00 for al ratios/results (same for the graphs).

I do not have a listed diff ratio so hit "other". When I hit "Go" it asks me to enter a diff ratio but there does not seem to be any means of doing that.

Hi,

we have found a few bugs but are working on them as we speak,

currently not working with firefox,

LT77 ratios all showing the same for different varients,

the 'other' diff option looks OK to me, when you click 'other', a box comes up for the ratio to me entered in,

Dave
