1 piece vs Split transfer cases (40 series?)

Post by VooDoo »

Ive spent the last 2 hrs trying to find info on the early 1 piece transfer cases vs the split type of case.

Was the split one stronger? Some info points the to 1 piece being the better one but i need to find out how strong they are (it might go behind a LS1)

Anyone know the differances and how strong they are?

Single piece is the early style and not very strong. You can buy/build bracing for the case but I don't think the internals will hold up behind an ls1. Later model split cases are heaps stronger and have held up behind plenty of high powered V8s without mods.

1 piece case is a stronger case, but the internals are much smaller than the split case transfer and they will mash the internals much easier.
