Hi All
After enduring some months of sand, mud, dust and diesel fumes entering through the large holes left by my cutting the lower section of the rear guards off, I've fixed it.
Using two poly cutting boards, cut to shape and trimmed, I've (somewhat) neatly weatherproofed the rear of the Mav'. The boards were screwed and glued (MaxBond), sealed with silicone inside and out and then sprayed in beautiful matt black. The car is my toy so appearances are not the most important thing for me, hence the attractive matt black painted screw heads on the outside of the rear guard!!
I'll keep an eye on water ingress etc. and if need be, I'll tap bungs into the boards to drain out any captured water.

I know it sounds bodgy, but I can't weld (I don't think I would anyway). When it's all painted up, it looks good, or as good as it needs to look when its actually under the car!!!!
I'm not a tradey and aesthetics are irrelevant to me. What has everyone else done when they've cut rear quarters???
