One for the MQ guys. SD external oil cooler

Post by dattopimp »

Hey everyone, yes it's been months since I've been on but now I really need your help.

Just spent the last 45minutes searching the forums so don't tell me do a search... But I'm just about finished my turbo sd33 buildup only to find no one stocks a spin on adaptor to run an external oil cooler in a 1" 12tpi format...

I've seen a picture of one on the forums absolutly ages ago and I can't find it anymore. Does anyone remember seeing it as well? or who had it? Or where I could find one? I've cleaned out the water to oil cooler so its spotless but would still like to run an air to oil cooler and bung in a oil temp sensor as well.

I read somewhere on the forums that mocal used to do one but I've just checked their website and can't find it. May need to call them during the week.

Any other ideas? I'm open to suggestions atm. Has been a pretty expensive exercise soo far so want to do everything right the first time.

Thanks in advance guys.

Mick

i did one for the SD but it replaces the heat exchange all together. In hind sight it was a bit of a fizzer. If u still run the heat exchange remove the cast alloy pipe from the filter housing to the heat exchange. Just run a tapper tap in the the housings fit some JIC hydraulic fittings and het hose made up.

A good heat exchange (Turbo one is bigger) and an alloy rad will keep it cool. I found with only the external cooler towing with the EGts around 500 for a perihod of time the oil thinned a lot.

I try to fine some pics

Cheers man, if you could that'd be great. I already have a turbo cooler as its a turbo block. Still can't decide on which way to go with the radiator either. Just get this one recored or for for an alloy one. The plan was to use both water to oil and air to oil coolers rather then just one.
