extended shackles
Anybody know where i can pick up some 50mm extended shackles for my sierra? Don't have the time to make them on my own unfortunately, require them urgently.

Depends what type you want
I have C channel which cost me about $70 (I had it bent up ouit of 3mm plate) plus $30-40 for bolts.
I ordered them on the way to work, picked them up on the way home and had them on the car that night.

What is the difference between them Steve? Where did you get yours from? Is it true that it makes the front feel quite wobbly as there are people out there who reccommend them only for the rear

I the longer the shackle the worse it it but mine are on extended by 50mm (I think).
I cant say whether they make the wheel wobble as I have the "Swamper Wobble" going on anyway.
I ran the same length shackles (not C channel) on my old zook and it steered fine.
I have left mine fairly loose to allow sideways twisting and expect to chew bushes more frequently but that didn't really worry me.
I got the bolts and steel made up by Merrigans Engineering which are located on para rd in Greensborough.

The effect of excessively extended shackles is due to the effect on the castor (or is it camber) of the front end by rotating the diff around (because the shackle is only at one end). This makes the car less inclined to track straight and more like a shopping trolly.
For this reason - i don't imagine that extending shackles at the back will not have this effect - as they are not involved in the steering of the vehicle.
However, longer shackles attached loosely (for maximum flex) will wobble around (as per what bigsteve has written). But it's just a matter of driving accordingly.

This weird harmonic (death wobbles etc) I firmly believe has nothing whatsoever to do with your shackle.
When I swapped from 32 BFG's (no death wobbles at all) to 33 swampers the smallest bump would set em off the springs and shackles etc were untouched between the different tyres..
I know Chistover had the same experience swapping rubber, when he went from his old bald SAT's to my old 31's (that had no issues on my Zuk) he got the death wobbles as well .. No suspension mods between swapping one set of another.
I run considerably longer shackles (about 130mm eye to eye) on mine with poly bushes and rears up front .. and no death wobbles on it either (as my claws are balanced) handled quite OK until I bent my spring packs creating huge amounts of camber
In my experience the balancing of the rubber has the largest effect on death wobbles.
