Re: this winch any good
I've bought a few cheapies off ebay and I've been happy with them. This one looks okay to me and seems excellent value. Just take care not to get it wet. I bought the size up ,15000lbs and it's too big.
I say. Go for it. It will get you out of most spots for a few years. Also look at the winch cradle, unless you can mount it to your bar. It looks good value. Have you allowed for freight ?

Re: this winch any good
Freight will be expensive......
First thing is piss the solenoids & cables off and get decent ones made for real world aussie 4wding conditions.
Pull the winch apart and regrease and oil everything up properly, seal like a mo fo when putting back together, tap a hole in it and make a breather.....
All good to go then....
Cheap winches are cheap for a reason.....but spend some money on desent sols and cables is the best money spent and cheap insurance

Re: this winch any good
IMO - don't waste your time. If you want a GOOD, cheap winch, you can't go past one of the Tigerz11 units. Best bang for buck, and he has a PROPER warranty and parts backup. I've used quite a few of his products with no issues to date, and there's plenty of other people on here that will also back up his gear.

Tigerz11 has a good reputation here with good aftermarket service. Worth the price for that alone.
Google the Tigerz11 winch for their site, or PM Tigerz11 here.

Re: this winch any good
The Tigerz11 get the thumbs up from me. But I can only speak from experience, and my experience with my similar ebay winch has been good.
My winch has performed faultlessly.

Re: this winch any good
I'd check that this applies in Australia, then I'd say go for it if it does.
Seeing as they say this;ebay winch ad wrote:We are so confident in the quality of these winches that we are offering a 3 year Warranty. In addition, we are certain that you will be completely satisfied when you see it and test it, that we have a 14 Day Return Policy.
I would assume it does........... Well, you tell them that when they ask....ebay winch ad wrote: For those of you who have ever done any off roading in Australia or New Zealand, you will know that winch is the first choice of most Ausies and Kiwi's. This exact winch Retails for over AU$1400 which is now almost the equivalent of US$1400. This winch has been tested by many major US distributors and has passed every test possible and therefore will soon be seen in many major off road accessories stores selling for over $1000 with their own branding.

Re: this winch any good
Terrain Tamer winch is worth considering.
Re: this winch any good
Whatever you go for, make sure you use a block and a double line pull (where you can). I agree the Nissan is a heavy beast. They are also capable, so if you need a winch, then I assume you are fairly stuck and need a really strong bit of kit to pull you out. Just make sure your winch bar can take the force. The last Patrol I saw could only take a max 9500lbs winch.
You'll need a Tree trunk protector, some rated shackles, gloves, dampner and maybe a winch extension of some sort. I think the winch you are keen on only has 37meters of cable. Around 50 meters is great to have. The synthetic rope IMO is great as well. You might be able to get that later.
I hope it all goes well.

Re: this winch any good
Gooday, i inquired about this winch about a month ago and postage was about $600.00 plus, I went for 12500lb winch from ebay ZHME brand. Wholesaler is in Sydney. And was told if you ever need parts, thats not a issue, order through them.Hopefully never need to. Only cost $450.00 delivered to the door with the usuall 12 months warranty. I know its been said before but only time will tell if its any good. I was going to go for the Tigerz11 and heard the warranty was good because of things went wrong they were fixed asap. But thats no good to you if your stuck somewhere. I dont think what you buy or how much you pay is going to ensure it never breaks down.

That sure is an option. But you would have to know what you are looking at. I'm assuming the person inquiring does not know what they are looking at.AFeral wrote:Why not buy a well know brand second hand

Re: this winch any good
Good point green as grass. Can always take along a battery hook it up make sure it winds in and out.
I got mine second hand a warn high mount paid $800 went well till the magic smoke escaped from the motor. So I upgraded to a 6hp motor for $500. A short while later the solinoid pack gave up to, got myself a Titan solinoid for $200. So all up it cost me $1500 for which I have got myself a very capable winch. Got to buy the upgrades one at a time so the shock to budget was not to bad.

Re: this winch any good
Don't waste your time with an older solenoid pack - buy a Titan style one (Tigerz11 sell these as well), and then keep the old pack as a back up unit.gqmudder91 wrote:yeri have no idea on winches all i know is the solinods have to been clean to get full contact with older ones ? is there anything that i should look at with a second hand one ?
http://www.tigerz11.com.au/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
As for looking at second hand ones, all youn can really do is test the in/out action, make sure the freespool works and has no nasty feeling on the lever or the freespool action of the drum, and most importantly CHECK THAT THERE IS NO PHYSICAL DAMAGE. Warn parts aren't generally too expensive, but if you have to start replacing chassis parts because they're cracked or have steel cable damage, then it can become VERY expensive.
