Hello,
I have recently bought a 1987 HJ75 landcruiser, I have had a 12v glow system put on it as the original was pretty dodgy. It was also 12v. The original 6v system resisters, timers and what ever else are apparently not there and have all been removed. The auto leccy that has done the job told me that I have to try and source 12v plugs to suit this engine. I am finding it really hard to get suitable plugs.
Please be aware I'm not very mechanical minded, but my understanding is that the glow plugs are now wired to a button on my dash which when pressed pumps a constant 12v in to the glow plugs. I have tried to use the 6v plugs and only hold them for 3 seconds but I only get about 2months from new before they burn out. I Have 14v in it at the moment and it struggles to start on cold days.
Can someone please tell me of what type and part number plug I may be able to get to suit this engine and application?
Thanks,
your input will be a great help

Try 10.5 vvolt plugs.

Can you tell me what make? I've been told that the only size to suit my ute is the 6v and 14v
Re: HJ75 glow plugs. Please Help!!
All of the major brands should have 10.5 volt plugs, just go into a diesel workshop or somewhere like Qld Diesel spares and ask them ffor 10.5v glow plugs to suit a 2H - they definitely exist.
Edit: Try HKT PT145 plugs, they're 10.5 v and will fit in a 2H.

Re: HJ75 glow plugs. Please Help!!
Will I still have the issue of burning them out as there is no timer?
Re: HJ75 glow plugs. Please Help!!
You just have a push button right? Hold it in for 8 seconds or so then once the push button is released the glow plugs should not have power to them anymore.
