17x8 rims Engineered nsw?
Going onto Hilux/Bundera diffs.
Has anyone got 17x8"s engineered on any make of 4x4 that 15x8" were standard?
I know 8" is normally maximum width, so im not going to push for 10"s. But i think i can remember that 2" diameter larger was allowed, for any car. It is not stated on the rta downloads. Will be running 35's, was tossing up weather to run 15"s, but they will be better on 17"s. 17"s are now a more common size now also..

it is not the wheel size that matters, its the tyre size.
ie, a 12" rim with a 31" tyre, is the same as a 28" rim with a 31" tyre, in the eyes of the RTA, and QLD transport.

Talking to a blue slip guy last week he said 1 inch over std rim diameter was what was allowed in nsw. but thats not exactly from the horses mouth.
what will be better about 35's on 17's rather than 15's?
getting more common but still more limited and expensive than 15's

thats a strange limit to make, and actually makes the RTA's mod restrictions tighter than QLD!!! at least in this one area!

As I said i wouldnt be 100% on this the guy was pulling figures out left right and center which didnt align with my understanding of the rules - but im no expert either - As usual it also depends on which pleace you speak too. sigh everytime they try to change the rules it makes it more confusing and harder thus to comply.
I would just call the rta and ask them for it in writing.

One of the reasons is the sidewall flex. Less is better in speed cornering. If i need to do a swerve test. Any less swerve is better!
17"s are expensive, rims are more also. A definate bummer.
35x12.5 r15 , looking at goodyr mtr's atm. $410 a tyre aus dealer. In the us,$200usd a tyre, with postage, is still cheaper than here!
mtr 35x12.5 r17s are $271usd.
Thinking of buying 5 also..
And if i want to go larger, just for example, mtrs or km2's are not made 37 - r15 anymore.

for a lane change test you just pump the tyres up to 35-40psi (or if you have a heavy vehicle, go the max rating on the tyre).... i ran mine at 35psi for my lane change test (all be it only 31x10.5s on a zuk) and they had zero sidewall flex. however i also used a stiff tyre (cooper stt).

They mtr kevlars are meant to be fairly stiff in the sidewalls also.

Sierra's are meant to run at 20psi.
Maximum 26psi in the rear when loaded..
Too high a pressure makes sierra's skittish and handle shithouse.

i dont think diameter will be your problem timmay but i did get picked up last week with the engineer on running to large a offset.i am running just the norm 15x8s that everyone has (-20 something) and it put me over the spec sheet by more than the standard 25mm on track width.
we were talking after and he mentioned going up to a 16 or so to get a lesser offset off a newer vehicle so you might be right

Call John at Consulmotive - RTA signatory engineer, told me exactly what I needed to do to get what I wanted approved.

ditto. my swb , even the 15x8's are not meant to be run. This question was asked for hilux/bundera diffs. Different ball game.landcruiser/lux/toyo solid diff -22 is stock. 15x8 is stock. As far as i know.
Does anyone know where i can get 17x8' sunnies with prices and offset on the website? Hard to find..

my hilux was what i was trying to get passed on the 8s,not my zuk man,its all legit
my tyre placard says it runs a 205 16 standard and on 16x5.5 rims or 16x6 different models.
the engineer said when he rang back with specs that std was like a positive 30?? so i dunno what im doing next.

Is your lux ifs? Sounds like the engineer is wrong.. Heaven forbid..
Its going to be hard.. My rear is bundera an my front is lux. They are both the same design//width/track. so i guess its up to the engineer.
Looks like im going the usual 15x8.
