hey everyone, anyone have any ideas, what i can do with my 1991 Mazda Bravo!! im pretty sure its stock standard at the moment, i just wanna get into 4wDriving...just the easy stuff IVE never been 4wDriving before, hoping to get out there soon!

no offence intended, but ask anyone on this board and they will tell you that building a decent 4b costs alot more money then it should, so before you think about modifying your rig, maybe you should see if you enjoy 4wding before you decide to spend lots of money on it (Remember, no offence intended)

We have ormeau, Landcruiser park, Oakey flat road, Powerline tracks and Black Duck valley to name a few. They have a couple of tracks that a stocko can get thru to give u some idea of what you need eg tyres, lift, uhf. BUT the first thing you really should get is a good set of recovery gear as no one likes to damage their own recovering someone else.

Next thing you should get is another 4x4 to take offroad. I have a ford courier 4x4 and use to wheel it, but the courier/bravo's just arnt ment for that. While i was 4x4ing it i would constantly break engine mounts Even broke a stub axel once.
Take you 4b for a run in the bush to see if you like it then try and pick up and old 40 series landcruiser for less than $3000.
Hope ya have heeps of fun and dont get bitten to bad

Congrats in getting a 4by. My first 2 4bys were Bravos the 2nd of which I did lots of mods on. But as you get more involved in wheelin you may want to get more adventurous and the Bravo isn't up to anything serious. The best mods i did to it was ARB suspension (much better ride on road and more travel off road), 235/85/16 muddies (increased clearance underneath, no more scraping) and just the usual stuff, bars etc.
As I got more involved the less Mazda liked me..... about $13,000 of warrenty claims!, front axle, rear pinion seal, gearbox & transfercase, replaced bonnet, etc., etc.
So if you want to get more serious sometime down the track get something with solid axles front & rear. Most of all have fun.

i wasnt looking to mod it yet, i wanna use it for the easy stuff for a while then mod it within a few months or even a year, but now i have the ideas its a lil easier

The Raider I have is just a wagon version of a B2600/Courier. I have been suprised by what it can do but a grade 4 track is about it.
What I did was join a 4WD club. I've been able to go places I thought I would have no hope in getting through. The reason for this is the warm fuzzy feeling of safty in numbers and people who (mostly) know what they are doing. Many clubs are family oriantated. With this in mind, they normally cater for all types of wheeling be it mum, dad and the kids on an eazy drive to a camping spot for the weekend to the hard core, got my will made out, guys tackling the grade 5+ tracks and then some.
Other bonus is most clubs insist you complete their driver training before tackling anything over grade 3. Whilst some clubs may have better training then others, nearly all will help you into getting a feel for what you and your vehicle are capable of (before you get into a potentially life threathing situation).

Yes get all the safety and recovery gear first at least you can keep it all for the next vehicle.
A good set of offroad tyres will help heaps (also could be used for another vehicle) then decide if you want to keep going with mods on that truck or sell for a more offroad orientated vehicle.

We have never been allowed into Oakley Flats Road but still everybody ignored and kept on wheeling..... a lot still do these days
As for powerline tracks ? which one are you talking about ? As a fact i know the one that goes to Tambourine Mountains is still open

After a trip to Manar I was very impressed how well the bravo went. one of the guys out there had one it was the first time he had it off road.
He had to learn fast after taking some wrong turns and ending up on some of the hard tracks. No way to turn around just keep going.
The poor bloke was sh&tting himself but did really well.
All the guys out there that weekend said they would never let anyone
bag a bravo again.
