v6 power steering

Post by georgey »

hey

i recently picked up a commodore v6 and 3 auto gearboxes for real cheap so im puttin it in my hilux.

i need to know how the power steering hooks up.
I want to use the commodore pump as the motor only uses one belt.
how do i hook the box up to the pump?

Also with the enginer mounts do i absolutely have to move them forwards or can i leave them where they are?

edit:
also locktup4x4 sells a transfer adaptor for the t700r4 auto 4speed box.
will this fit a 4l60e?im not 100%sure this is the box i have.
The gearbox i have is from a v6 VT commodore.

cheers

gregory, you will need a new hi pressure hose made as the fittings from hilux to commodore are different, a hydraulic hose fitting shop will be able to make one. vt v6 auto is a 4l60e but the box needs to be dissassembled to fit the new output shaft.

have no problem taking the box apart but i cant find a transfer adaptor for it.
only for the th700 box.

will the kit for the th700 fit the 4L60E?
Or will a th700 box bolt to the motor?

thanks for the info on the steering lines.
i must need to go and get a commodore resevoir as there wasnt one with my motor.
cheers

the 4l60e transmission should have a casting number (4l60e) or part no. sticker on it, most engine mounts bolt on to the drivers side but you will need to remove the passenger side engine mount post from the chassie and weld on a new post, it depends on what engine and front suspension your hilux has. what model v6 do you have? the ecotec v6 power steering tank bolts to the comm radiator but the earlier ones bolt to the top of the power steer pump. and the t700 and 4l60e transfer adapters are different. hope this helps.
