I have just put a #3RZ into my 92 dual cab hilux, it used to have a 22R in it, I have wired everything up as per instructions from a thread on outerlimits but still no luck..
The car starts and runs for about 5 seconds and then cuts out, when the motor is cold it will run for about a minute then cut out..
It does not loose spark and the fuel pump continues to run and so do the injectors, it really has me puzzled. Any help into how I could try and find the problem would be greatly appreciated.
Vaccume leak somewhere im thinking? Hows the airflow meter?
Hey mate, checked the airflow meter off a mates working 2.7 and checked his vacume lines to where I am running mine, still no luck all seems to be the same.
I have no idea what else to do unless I take it to a electician???
Shouldnt be anything to do with the above, its running, any coil issues ect it wont even start. Had that with mine. I control valve under the throttle body may be fawked. You shouldnt be able to hook it up after the airflow, its pretty straight forward where it has to be.. if its starting then cutting out, i got my bets on vaccume. Double triple check everyhose n fitting, your fuel reg got vac on it?

this was happening with mine, ended up being the air flow meter, but as u said u checked it on a mates, so that is fine, correct me if im wrong guys but if it was a vaccumm leak it would just idol really high? search a few other sides for the wiring diagram, someone could have messed around with the one you got to screw people around

I know that you are gunna yell at me but go back through the wiring diagram and make sure that the power and earths are correct corosponding to the pin location number, and not the colour of the wire. better still open up the diagnostic port in the engine bay and with a test light tell me is there power at the B terminal i think it is from memory
dillza_69 wrote:what intake pipe are you using, mine did the same thing because i had the IAC valve plumbed in before the A/F meter so that air wasnt being metered
And this is exactly what was happening to mine when first completing the conversion. I'll go out on a limb and say this is exactly the problem if your running non-stock intake tube. If the IAC is pulling in unmetered air, it will stall, simple as that. To test, start it up when warm, and pinch the hose going to the IAC, and see if that helps.
Mine did the same thing, i used a wiring diagram i got of here somewhere. Turns out that the blue and red wire to power the air flow meter had to be in a different pin out position to the diagram i was using. with a test light check that there is actually power at the air flow meter.
might sound stupid but make sure all your intake ducting is tight at the
hose clamps, and check out the ducting where it ripples to see if it has splits in it.
