t - max winch what is it rated to? and are they any good?

Post by lozz_ti »

hi,

i've got a t-max winch on the front of my new gu patrol but the previous owner didnt no what it was rated to. it has ew10000 on the side of the winch so i am assuming its a 10000 pound winch?

what are the t-max winches like? are they any good? do they have any problems? is the winch big enough for a gu patrol?

any info would be great.

thanks, lozz

10,000lbs would do the job. You can always use a snatch to take some load off. The T-max seem to be very good for their price. I wasn't a fan of them myself until I was on a trip with a 5 tonne GU and camper winching up a creek bank and his t-max was pulling his front wheels off the ground. Also check out tigerz winches they are very popular. I got a warn because they supposed to be the best but they are also double the price.
I'm not quitting drinking, I'm retiring at the top of my game - sporting comeback likely.

i've got a t-max hand winch, only used it once - to recover a 200 series (was pretty close to rolling over), guess u'd say it was worth its weight?

thanks for the info.

i have used it once so far when i went 4wdriving by myself and got stuck in a mud hole and all 4 wheels were off the ground and it pulled through about 5 meters of mud before the wheels touched the ground again and it did it with no problems so i was very happy with it. was just unsure if they were a good winch or not as i've never had one.

Tmax are very good whinches, apparently stronger internals than WARN winches and more powerful motors. I've got a 6500lb Tmax on my sierra and it pulls single line up hills as steep as I can go without rolling back end over end.
