Just bought a set 285-75-16 (33"). Get delivered today. I've had 35" Silverstone X-treme and 32" and 35" Simex Centipedes and Swamper LTB 34" so I'll let you know how they compare. The guy selling them has just ordered another container load so no stock for about 6 weeks. I'll post some pici's when they arrive.

HI Guys,
I used these on a recent trip to the Vic High Country (Cup weekend). I'm very happy with them. In comparison to Simex ET's and Silverstone X-treme they perform just as well. They seem a bit quieter on the highway, but is probably more because my 100 series has better cabin noise suppression than my old Disco. I am by no means a 'hard core' aggressive driver so I didn't test them on rock faces and megga bog holes. It was a very wet weekend and they did a great job. I ran them at 25psi (cold) but found this a bit firm during the day so the next day I dropped them to 20psi (cold) and they felt a lot better. They bagged out reasonably well. Someone mentioned that being a remould they may actually have slightly more rubber on the sidewall making them a bit stiffer. They 'tram track' a bit like all of these 'huge side lug' tyres. You have to get used to 'letting the tyres steer' a bit otherwise you are fighting the track. More a case of relax and let the tyres do the work. I'd say for my needs they are perfect. Especially when they only cost $275. They balanced easily and were centred/round so no massive shaking or wobbles while on the highway.

Recap/remould I thought were the same thing , sorry could have the name wrong. But anyway they are not a retread, that is what you definitely want to stay away from.

yeah retreads are those anoying black bits you see on malor highways that exit due to truck retreads,there a cheap cheap option for transport companys!nasty,nasty!

nar the wear indicators are further down again on the simex - most people re-groove the bridges once the tyre is at 50%... gives it an extra few months life =)

retreads/remoulds dont contain and steel belts as many of the chunks of debris on the side of the highways usually do. yes retreads do fail im not debating that but 'cleanskins' fail as well and usually because of under inflation or a puncture etc.

i ran motorway mongrels on my zook a few days back without any issues. i also ran some cheap retread bfg muddies knockoffs on the road a fair bit again without any issues. possibly due to the light weight of the zook but ive got nothing against them for weekend/offroad tyres on larger 4x4's.

The lugs in between the tread of the simex are rock ejectors so rocks don't get stuck in your tread.
