Q: Drivet 30 Micron Filter kit - Landcruiser / hilux D4-D

Post by dank »

Had some customers recently asking for these filter kits. My current supplier sold out almost straight away and I can't find anyone else in the country that sells them let alone the actual manufacturer.

Does anyone know this kit? It is an aftermarket retro fit filter kit that is fitted before the OEM Fuel filter on D4-D Hiluxs and the V8 D4-D landcruiser. it is supposed to get rid of water and particles in fuel. Apparently mining mobs have been installing them on mining vehicles because they've had problems with bad fuel destroying pumps worth mega bucks....

Anyone know any suppliers?

30 micron is a very coarse rating for a fuel filter.

A lot of D4D owners have fitted a CAV type filter before the main filter.

Rayco sell a lot in the marine market, you buy the 30micron kit then change the filter to a 10 micron to filter out water, Rayco sell the 10micron filters but not in the initial water separator kit for some reason.

thanks guys i thought that 30 micron might have been a bit course but these vehicles have 1/2inch fuel lines so i don't know if a 10 micron filter will cause too much restriction to the flow?

I have fitted a normal CAV type filter to a D4D before...no good... didn't flow enough and the vehicle was very hard to start in the morning.
