Pretty crazy. I've seen similar things done to pickups in the states though.

Re: ummm ok :D
thats all good but what im interested in is how does the steering work out here? also torsion bars.. in the pics it seems there arent any so coils in front?? And how do you get that through inspection?
Cheers

something a little similar
If your wife wants to learn to drive, don't stand in her way.
Re: ummm ok :D
Cant see the point really, ok for on road, but off road, you wont be going very far.

A lot of it really is about on-road only, for show.
Sometimes the 4wd doesn't actually work because setting it up is to complicated. Sometimes the trucks that this is done to aren't even 4wd. In the US for example it's cheaper to run a 2wd pickup in some states for tax reasons.
Suspension probably would be coil over struts, although I've seen pictures of torsion bar setups with lowered mounting points on the chassis
Steering may have the rack turned upwards, and a second steering box put in to change the shaft direction (just guessing)

I love the look of the triton at that height, but the way he got the hight is scary...57oky wrote:something a little similar
Im pretty sure the money he spent on that set up he could of coiled the rear and sas the front for a little more money.
Mark.
Its not cool, unless it's got boost :)

how ultra ghetto, i love how the right hand side lifting bloke is two pieces bolted together, and the left is one piece57oky wrote:something a little similar
he must be mates with this clown, 6" of body lift, suspension lift with dodgy strut extensions, standard brakes, steering, diff and cv's all on 44"s and he craps on about it being street legal, clearly not.

Being street legal is so rebellious. What a champ

Re: ummm ok :D
Thats Jetski David from Pajero Owners Club UK, thats his daily driver, never used offroad. He uses it for shows and the whole 'road legal monster truck' scene, won him plenty of awards. At the minute hes building a Hilux Surf for the same purpose, but you have to admit, impractical, but it does turn heads!!

Re: ummm ok :D
It may turn heads but the reality is its dangerous to be used on the road.
At least what he is doing with the surf will be a whole truck load safer.

Not to sound skeptical, but how do you figure?

Re: ummm ok :D
I can only presume cos it isn't done yet but there will be no body lift and he will join the two chassis by some pretty substantial plates

Oh, havent seen the buildup. Two chassis, on all Hilux Surf? That sounds strange?

Re: ummm ok :D
he is strange, i knews whos rig it was which is why i mentioned he is a clown, "durrrrrr 6 inch body lift doesnt increase the force on the body mounts when i brake, durrrrrrr standard brakes are fine it only goes to 55mph"
down right dangerous and he's worshiped on that site
its not road legal, it just passes mot

Re: ummm ok :D
Over here in the UK we're not as extreme as you guys, most of us on POCUK wouldn't go near cutting bodywork and welding new shock mounts etc. but on here its quite common. In the UK its a lot more popular to modify Land Rovers if you're looking a serious offroader, coilover conversions etc can be bought locally off the shelf. The Pajero Owners Club UK has some nice modified Pajeros but in all honesty the majority are used for green laning and weekend offroading at most, daily driving over here doesnt really need offroaders at all, we just like the look of them!!
