Post by SIM79 »

After removing tonneau rivets from a style side ute what options are there to seal up the small holes. Going to a panel beater will a very expensive option.

falcon utes have a plastic clip type of thing the go into the holes maybe you could find out exactly what they are they only problem is that you can still see clips, the only other real option is to weld the holes up because alot of the time if you just fill the holes with bog it will shrink and then you can see a ring in the paint work

If you are after a cheap option, just put in another rivet, that will keep the weather out and if your car is close to a colorbond color you can even be color coded

If you want it to look half decent, clean the holes back with a wire wheel, fill them with weld, cut the weld back with a flap disc, putty primer,a light sand and a coat of paint.
I plan on doing this in my truck to fill in 20yrs worth of tek-screw holes.
And if you think you can't weld, thats the best time to learn.

Can you get another tray?

I had a 97 Rodeo dual cab. It came with a cover but I put on a canopy. I used to catch my belt loops on the round plastic riveted on things.
So I bought another tray. $80 for a white tray complete with lights etc that had been sitting in a shed since new. Just had a turbo diesel sticker on the back and mine was petrol.

Never did fit it though but it made me feel better thinking I could change it whenever I wanted :)

Yes, but they still would have the tonneau rivets as hard lid was never a factory option.

Get a whole heap of :finger: and  stickers to put over the holes.
