hey guys after a weekend of fun my 105s 1FZFE decided to go to the grave with a mouthfull of water... ooops!
Well no point crying over it thing is i need to get her on the road again, Ill be sourcing crate engine prices monday and see how i go but another option is engine exchange from "The Engine Exchange" in WA, has anyone had dealings with the whole engine exchange and how good or bad can these possibly be!
any other options would be good, I have made my choice to stick with the 1fzfe as they are great engine and its a easy swap to just drop another one in but couple extra horsys in way of turbo or stroking would be good? any help or ideas from you guys who have done similar would be appreciated. I want it reliable still and dont want to put a LS1-2-3 into it even thou they are great options i just like the 4.5
First of all, you need to make sure it's dead - just because it stopped because it has water in it doesn't mean it's dead, especially petrol engines.
Unless you have obvious signs the engine is ruined (such as a piston hanging out the side of the block, there are a heap of threads here showing you how to get a drowned motor going again and it's a pretty easy process to do. I'd be trying these methods first since, other than a bit of time, it will be your cheapest option and it may just run fine with a bit of TLC..
If she's rooted, HM GEM do exchange re-manufactured engines and they are reasonably priced too.

yeah she gone to the grave, i should have mentioned there is a a rod trying to make its way out of the block
as much as i want to keep cost low i want something reliable and new crate engine is prob best option with choice to turbo it, finance pending!
i have been told that genuine toyota motors are actually well priced.......compared to reconditioned........recently............
they have dropped their price too............... actualy have people buy genuine than remanufactured......or second hand......
and the warranty you got to love.......and its NEW.....
i do wonder if they would have one in stock??.....

yeah mate looked into it, I heard a couple years back there were a few cheap ones sold but I enquired this week and the price was bull****! 12g for long and about 5g for short motor!
unless someone else knows differently or a dealer that could be off loading old stock would be appreciated!
ring around your local 4wd workshops. might have a spare sitting on a shelf somewhere that they removed from a car.
I know total care 4wd sometimes have 1fz motors sitting around after theyve removed them from cars to do conversions.

all sorted boys picked up a decent one from brunswick diesel yesterday, worked out well!
