gt28 bb turbo?

Post by lozz_ti »

hi,

i've got a turbo that i was told is gt28 bb. but when i put it next to a gt25 they look identical. the gt28 has a .80 compressor housing on it.

does anyone know if it is a gt28?

is there an easy way of finding out what turbo it is?

thanks, lozz

There's usually a tag on the bearing housing which lists a serial number.
Otherwise, just pull the housings off. A GT28 will have a 60mm compressor wheel and a turbine wheel bigger than 53.8mm.

Go look at turbobygarrett website. There are lots of gt28 variations.

thanks for the info.

its a gt25.

now i need to buy a gt28 ball bearing turbo.

has anyone got a gt28 on a td42?

is it worth going to a bigger turbo than the gt28? i want good low down torque but i dont want it to run out of legs higher up in the rev range.

thanks, lozz
