glow plug advice

Post by RIZZO »

Hi, havin troubles on a 4.2 td not runnin smooth, first we thought it was injector pump, but after testing pump it is fine, just doesnt want to run below 2000rpm and sounds a little rough, could this be glow plugs,
yes tanks have been flushed, new filter, everything fine in that department.
if anyone has any suggestions would be great :)

is the injector pump rotation exactly right with the timing marks... did they put the probe up its ass to test pump timing.. are the injectors new or reconditioned.. is the fuel leeks anywhere.. are you bleeding it correctly.. glow plugs will only take play when you start the vehicle.

yes mate timing seems spot on, have got pressure all the way to the injector so maybe the injectors might need a look at. no fuel leaks anywhere, thank you for advice

have heard of similar issues when there is a slight bit of air being sucked in via the filter assembly diaphram. but it would be a low likelyhood issue.

Have you thought of getting a compression leak down test done?

how does it feel for power once the revs get up?

injectors would be my first port of call - if you spend the time getting them in and out most places will test them for little of no charge, with the idea that you buy reco or new units from them if they are found faulty.
