Auto transmission oil change

I'm about to change the transmission oil in my auto Suzi GV. Is it as simple as draining/refilling or do I need to change the filter/screen, get the bands adjusted etc?

Will (gravity) draining get rid of all of the old oil (from the torque converter etc) or does the oil need to pumped out by the mechanic?

FWIW the transmission shifts OK and has no other issues that I can tell.

if it has not been done in a while best to remove the pan and replace it with a new filter and gasket. your torque converter probably holds a couple of litres, cooler another litre and then the lines etc etc which is all too much drama to drain. what i think is best is just after letting the car sit for a day or 2 meaning most of the oil has drained out into the pan then remove it .

once the filter has been replaced and the pan all tight put back in roughly what came out through your filler. with transmissions you need to then have the engine running and with the brake on go through all the gears including park and reverse ..then check your level on the dipstick.top up as necessary. this is absolutely necessary to be done while its running.

Or just disconnect a a trans cooler line (the one returning to the transmission so you flush the cooler) into a drain tray and get a mate to run the car while you pump fluid down the dipstick to flush the converter and lines.
