Hilux Brake Issues

Hello all, I have a 1983 ln46 Hilux. Just got home from camping today towing a boat around through abit of water and sand. Got home all ok but went out to the dump and on the way home the brakes seemed abit spongy. I slowed down and stomped them fairly hard and the pedal went all the way to the floor slowly.

Would anyone know what might be the drama. Also if you pump the pedal you can get abit of braking but the pedal still just goes slowly to the floor

I changed my rear wheel bearings about a month or 2 ago and had to bleed the brakes my self but all has worked fine until today.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, I have seen a few Topics similar to this but i would like some advice for my exact situtaion.

u need to rebuild ur master or get a new 1 or second hand 1 the rubber has perisehd in it i have 1 if u want

Did you bleed the LSPV as well??

Give the whole system a good bleed through and get out any air that maybe still in there.

Then look elsewhere.

if it was this it would have bin bad for a long time not just happend ?? but it could be that

Thanks for all your advice I will jack her up today and give it a full bleed, hopefully its something simple and just abit of human error on my behalf. Thanks Guys will let you know how i go.

Ok had another go at bleedind the brakes, Done the front and rear, But come to the LSPV. I cant seem to locate a nipple to bleed with, I have looked at other photos from other people and my car seems to be lacking the nipple, Its not that it has been smashed off or anything, Is it under the rubber boot, If not then im not sure what the go is.

Oh and still have the spongey brakes that go all the way to the floor, But it feels better. If you stab the brakes on and off then it pulls up alot quicker then before.

There should be a little rubber bung or boot over the nipple.
The nipple isnt where the nut is(the nut that you undo to bleed it), but its not far from it.
Have a go tomorrow, and you will find it.

No bleed nipple on a ln46 lspv, it will have a pipe in and a pipe out.
I would be looking at the master cylinder if your not losing any fluid.

Well there you go, I didnt know there was any difference in LSPVs between 46 and 65 models. Sorry mate.

Before going to an expesence od replacing master cylinders id be removing the rear drums and cleaning all the water/mud sand from them and also inspec the slave cylinders for leaks while your there... sounds to me its just the typical hilux shitty brakes after going through mud/water and sand.... clean adjust then look else where....
