got an auto locker in the rear and a shimmed lsd in the front i think i shimmed it a bit much and its like a locked diff so when 4 wheeling on hard dirt/ rocky ground my steering gets gradually harder till I can only move the steering wheel 1/4 turn left or right. I can force it past and it will give way with a bang like the rear locker occasionally does, i jacked up all four wheels put it in L4 and all four wheels turn when I turn one front wheel and chock one front I cant turn the other front to make the diff slip.
I can reverse and it will free up a little but i usually just unlock both hubs when on hard ground which is a pain.
My question is can i just unlock one hub and wheel around in H4 or L4 and it will be like 3 wheel traction and if i get to real boggy sand lock the other hub for 4 wheel traction would this do any damage to the hubs or drive train thanks all andy

Sounds like you might of went too far with the shimming and possibly damaged something (shouldn't make a banging noise). I'm not a fan of LSD's in the front, they lock when you don't want them to and don't lock when you need them. Best thing to do is rip it out and chuck an air or auto locker in there.
If you unlock one hub there is no guarantee that you will get drive to the front wheels at all, on hard ground with a wheel in the air all the drive will go to the unlocked axle.
