I looked at doing this 2 years ago. You will need a 1hdt auto bellhousing (the hardest thing to acquire), A diesel torque converter (the petrol is different internally), and a 1hdt auto flex plate. The shift points are different too, I think they were higher in the rev range being a petrol gearbox.

In the end I didn't do it as no one wanted to sell me a bellhousing unless it was attached to a transmission.

thanks simkell, didn't think it would be easy lol
so next question is, how hard is it to swap the 1hz +5 speed into my petrol auto? i can do the grunt work/have the facilities to do it . what are the hidden bits, do i need new engine mounts? do i need to move the gearbox cross member? is it hard to swap the wiring loom? anything else i need to know?
sorry about all the questions

cheers steve

engine mounts are different, they will need to be removed from the old vehicle. the clutch pedal box is a straight swap. As for the wiring i'm not sure, but it doesn't take much to get a 1HZ running.
