2L LN65 Performance Questions
Just bought a LN65.. The thing struggles to maintain a decent speed on flat highway.. I dont know what to expect from one of these, but to me it seems underpowered.. It'll do 90ish on flat going and I managed to get it to a bit over 100kph on a down hill section.. It appears to roll well and there isnt anything causing any unusual wind drag. It drives nicely in the bush and on the farm. Is this normal, if not whats the first things I should check? Its got ~280000km on what I think is the original engine.
Re: 2L LN65 Performance Questions
They're pretty gutless, you could check pump timing but gains are minimal. Maybe a turbo kit off a surf would help
Re: 2L LN65 Performance Questions
Not really interested in turbos.. I got this thing cheap to use as a camping bus, it would double in value if I put a turbo on it!
I had thought timing, injectors, filters and exhaust might help but looking for the common problems first, not being familiar with these things much..

Re: 2L LN65 Performance Questions
G'day,
I have an LN65 and have done a turbo conversion but to answer your question with a question...what condition are your rear shock absorbers in? My mate was just telling me tonight he put new shockies in his 'cruiser as the old one's were stuffed and were causing the brake proportion valve to activate the brakes slightly giving the impression the the hand brake wasn't fully releasing.
Before I had my engine overhauled I was easily reaching 130km/hr on the highway with a max of 140 and the engine was buggered. Fuel pump timing might give a bit more hp but as mention these NA diesels are low on hp to start with.
FYI...a 2L and a 2LT are so different it isn't worth putting a turbo on one..I found this out the hard way. If you want a 2L with factory turbo set up let me know....my hilux is now for sale...complete or otherwise.
Cheers

Re: 2L LN65 Performance Questions
All the suspension is in good condition, it has helper coils installed for carting wood.
The rolling resistance is low, I was under it checking the unis in the drive shaft and when I turned the shaft to get a look at the other side it rolled easily, easier than expected.
