Cant find a Starter motor?????

Post by DOZER »

G'Day

Ive got a TB42E and for the life of me i cant find any second hand starter motors for her.

Ive been calling round and getting quotes from $450.00 right through to $800.00 for a starter motor that would fit my truck and quickly give them the F off reply and hang up.

Cant seem to find any second hand ones and have called ipswich to noosa. Anyone been through this and have a cheaper reccomendation for me?

Cheers

Maybe get a quote to get the one you have rebuilt by an auto electrician.

yep, done that. And those prices are within the prices i mentioned above. Its rediculouse.

Some of the repairers say, nah dont repair it ... its cheaper to just buy a new one at $400.00 plus.

Trying to chase down some parts at the moment and see if i can get the drive gear cog and a new solonoid for her. Not havingn any luck so far. '

not really man, look on ebay. Can buy a TB42 starter motor for $220.00 brand new but would have to wait for about a week to get it which is not an option.

Shoulda just bit the bullet a week ago.

I've been told that you get what you pay for in starters.

I went through the same thing you are now, about 5 years ago. I think I ended up with a new hitachi branded one for around $500ish for my old GQ, its still going I believe.

I bought a $220 one from ebay and was delivered the next day! Starts a lot quicker now and doesn't draw massive current like the original
