Dash Globes - 80 Series

Post by Simmo88 »

Hi,

I was wondering if people knew where I might get some replacement dash globes for my 80 Series. I dropped by Toyota a while back to get a price, just as a base mark, and they wanted around $10 per globe. Since I need about 8 or so in most of the buttons, plus a couple in the instrument panel, I was looking for a cheaper option. being able to see the AC would be nice also.

Are the globes a standard globe I might find anywhere, or are they a toyota special item? I would even look at LED replacements if its a cheaper option, but I was hoping to find a place that just sells like a pack of 10 or something for a couple of bucks. Has anyone tried Jaycar or online for globes?

Does anyone know what 'type' of globes are behind the dash (ECT, Antenna, Hazard Buttons, etc), AC (to light up the controls, etc) and the instrument panel (Diff Lock, Cruise, Door Open, etc) so I can ask for that style or model?

These may be cheaper? I didn't realise there were so many types. I had the ones out of my hilux dash not long ago but couldn't tell which one they were by the pictures. I do remeber the warning lamps were smaller than the ones that light the main dials (Tacho / Speedo).

For globes?

Simmo, unless someone here has pulled the entire dash apart and remembers the exact globes and quantities (unlikely) you're probably going to have to pull your dash apart to check them. You're going to have to do it anyway to replace them so have another vehicle handy so you can duck down to your local parts supply (burson/Repco/etc) as they should have them all on the shelf.

Acually someone on ih8mud did that, listing all the replacement globes needed from a led supplier. however the price was a couple of hundred us dollars for the lot. But it did look

I bought 4 globes for the overhead console in the 80 and it was 11 bucks for them from toyota. they were incandescent bulbs not leds.

The easiest way is going to be to pull the dash out and remove all of the bulbs. They are all different shapes and sizes. If it were me i'd replace all of them as some are harder to get at. particually the heater/vent control. then take them to toyota.
