2.8td patrol please read

Post by 4x4joel4x4 »

hi lads,
i recently sold of my bj40 cruiser and bouhgt a sedan, and am already over it, hate not driving a 4bi

so i was looking to trade out my car here is a link:http://www.boostcruising.com/forums/ind ... +commodore

i have found a 2.8td patrol i will be trading my car + 2k here is a link for the troll:http://www.boostcruising.com/forums/ind ... 996+patrol

it has done 300000k's but has a new turbo and he reckons serviced every 5000, my 40 series must have been around the clock a few times and it was a 3.0ltr diesel and was great! it was my daily and offroad machine, sold due to leafs springs. so is 300000k's to many?, i have read tons of reviews on them about they are gutless and are crap offroad and what not.
but i have recently found out that my mate has a 2.8td and it goes hard offroad, i want it just to play around in ill neva be towing only a daily driver and hit some tracks offroad. i would like a 4.2ltr but cant afford one, any comments would be greatly appreciated thank you.

go to carpoint and have a look there is a gu 4.2td wagon for 12500 stock as a rock, think it has to be a printing error, to cheap to true, but maybe worth a phone call, if your not after hundreds and hundreds on hp the 2.8 will be fine, that is a few ks for a little donk if it hasnt been rebuilt though.

Frankly I would take it. Do you honestly expect to get 10k for a vt otherwise?

2.8s are great ive got one with a 3inch exhaust, thermos and 3inch intake and it turns 33s no worries has suprissed alot of 4.2 owners. mines done 300000ks now no worries you just have to watch the harmonic balancers/ timming belts apart from that unless your planning on towing 3t all the time there a great truck.
