Front arb locker not activating
Hey guys, the front arb air locker on my GQ patrol started intermittently not working and now it's not working at all
when you flick the switch it lights up but there's no compressor noise (there is for the rear though) and when I jack the front diff up it's not engaging
still drives okay in 4wd, no grinding or strange noises, however I haven't dropped the oil to see if there are any bits of metal. Was hoping it's more of an electrical problem?

Re: Front arb locker not activating
Yeah I've checked that the wires are connected at the compressor and switches

Re: Front arb locker not activating
Could be the switch or solenoid. Pull the air line from the solenoid and see it it let's air through

Re: Front arb locker not activating
I had the same prob last weekend, flicked the lockers on and nothing.
Checked wires all ok, so I disconnected the power, pressure switch and solenoid wires from the compressor, re connected them and everything worked again.
Cheers

Re: Front arb locker not activating
this happened to one of the fellas on a trip last weekend, turned out to be broken solenoid wires right were they enter the solenoid casing. wiggle the wires and the solenoid would click in and out, but the connection wasnt good enough to work while driving.

Re: Front arb locker not activating
Sounds electrical given that the compressor is not switching on when you activate the front locker switch, couple of things you can try,
To rule out a mechanical problem switch the airlines to the solenoids and ensure that the front diff now locks when using the solenoid and switch for the rear diff that you have confirmed as working. If this is ok then remove the airline and cable from the front locker solenoid and with the compressor on apply power to the solenoid to confirm it is activating, if solenoid is ok meter out the front locker switch to check it is functional.
