Hilux diff rebuild

Post by Willy Hilux »

Pulled down the rear diff in my lux today. 4.3:1 V6 type. Pulled the bottom bearing off the pinion and there was NO shim under the bearing.

My diff bloke told me there should be about a 77 tho shim under there. Whatever size there should be a shim he said.

Anybody else had no shim under there pinion bearing??

There was a 43 tho shim on top of the bearing with the crush spacer. This doesn't seem right either???????

There shouldnt be a shim in with the crush spacer. Is there a shim under the inner pinion bearing race in the housing? There must be some height adjustment there somewhere.. Did you paint a pattern check before you pulled it down?

Na. Diff was smashed. Lasted a fair few comps. Taking it to my diff bloke in the morning for him to sort it out.
