I have recently purchased a 01 prado TX, stock 1kz etc. One thing I noticed while giving the car a service was no LSD in the rear. I checked the manual etc and a few online things, apparently the TX model uses the brakes to regulate the wheel slip, like ABS in reverse, it brakes the wheel that is spinning the most, GXL's and RV's use a LSD.
The question I have is would fitting a LSD or auto locker affect this system? logic seems to say no, but would prefer to get some real world advice on anyone who has done this.
next Q what sort of diff do these have, it appears physically like the Surf or V6 hilux diff with the extra ribs on the carrier, what spline are they, if different from Hilux?

Prado 95 series LSD diff question

Re: Prado 95 series LSD diff question
I think the diffs are slightly larger than the old hilux (pre '05) and are actually the same as the new ones. Not 100% sure though.
I also thought that all the 95 series prados had a LSD in the rear, but it wouldn't surprise if they removed it as part of the traction control "upgrade" on your model
