Decline in Competition entry numbers and Sponsorships

Decline in Competition entry numbers and Sponsorships
Reading through some of the Outer Limits postings I noticed discussions on the decline of competition entry numbers and sponsorships on offer in general.
The global economic crisis is probably a major factor along with the continued natural disasters we have been experiencing throughout Australia in the past five months
As a South East QLD 4x4 park owner we have also experienced the effects caused by both these issues but it is at a grass roots level to speak issue that has been increasingly adding to these problems.
Sponsors for our events at Scenic Rim Adventure Park have spent thousands of dollars on supplying us with their companies advertising banners and signs. It was extremely disappointing to find out this week someone has taken down all our track banners which belong to these 4x4 supportive companies throughout the park. We assume because someone took the time to climb up and dismantle these banners they have been taken off the premises.
These supportive 4x4 companies are not never-ending money pits and if those who enjoy our sport cannot appreciate the efforts that these companies are putting in to help us the decline to run and participate in 4x4 events will continue to decline.
We are asking if you know what has happened to these banners and signs or know their whereabouts could they please be return to either company’s outlets direct or left the park office no questions asked.
Thank you for your support in locating these items

Re: Decline in Competition entry numbers and Sponsorships
That is a dead set joke!
Like you have mentioned it is hard enough to get the sponsorship then that happens.
This does not supprise me as it was popular for street signs to be stolen, who knows they are probably still being stolen from neighborhoods for all i know
Someones probably got them sitting in there shed boasting how great they look.
Whoever the signs belonged to i am sure they will understand what has happened and they will not blame you or your business.

Re: Decline in Competition entry numbers and Sponsorships
This behaviour from people who can only be described as Dead Beats and Dregs of Society(and other words that are sensored) is rediculous.
Coming from a club that rely's on businesses sponsoring our event so that we can run, we are disapointed to hear that these dumb have come to your park probably to watch an event or have a play and then to go and help themselves to something that doesn't belong to them is STEALING.
The fact that all of these competitions and parks put alot of time and effort voluntarily to run these events for these sorts of dregs really makes us mad and makes some volunteers just give up and not want to do it if this is how some people reward your effort.
If the people who have stolen these banners are reading this (not that they probably can) get a conscience drop them back to where they belong, they aren't yours please have a bit of respect for others peoples efforts and time to entertain YOU.

Re: Decline in Competition entry numbers and Sponsorships
Wendy, why can't you track these theives down by looking at who you had out at the park on the day or weekend they were stolen?
I'm sure most park users would not mind or take offence to a courtesy phone call to see if they know about this or saw anyone doing it.
I know it's a bit of a 'Captain Obvious' but wouldn't that be a better way of working it out?
Also maybe change the title of the thread, because people may just think it's some n00b having a whinge about no one sponsoring them to compete.

Re: Decline in Competition entry numbers and Sponsorships
I can't speak for Wendy, but I imagine the trouble is the banners could have gone missing anywhere from Nov to now, it's hard to pin point when they were actually taken. I do know it's not the first time Scenic Rim Adventure Park has been visited/affected by thieves. The park themself have also suffered from thieves....sadly its not just passionate enthusiasts that participate in our sport any more.
Re: Decline in Competition entry numbers and Sponsorships
Bring back the good old public humiliation and hangings.
When you catch them doing it tie them to a tree with a big sign saying "Thief" and it explaining that the reason the park has to charge more for entry is because of people like them and then let human nature take its course.

Re: Decline in Competition entry numbers and Sponsorships
Again without speaking for others, we lost nearly $1500 worth of Offroad Boss signage, and I know there was a large banner on the start line of every track for the extreme mod cars, so there's quite a few others that have lost banners as well. Part of the deal for track sponsors was that they could leave their signage up until the next King of the Rim, for continued exposure. Didn't really work out that way sadly.
