diff conversion for hilux

Post by gemhvn »

i own a 91 dual cab hilux and would like to do a coilover conversion but im not sure which diffs i wanna go with 80 series or GU diffs ive seen a hilux with 80 series front and GU on the rear any reason why.

I have also thought about going air shocks with shock hoops cromemolly arms and rose joints but that brings me back to which diffs and would it work and be road legal, i wanna use the car for work and play on weekends i can do all the work myself as i am a boilermaker. Any help would be great

Good luck with rose joints and road legal ;) why do you need different diffs? I'd just build the lux diffs

if you must change the diffs then use GU diffs, they are the strongest diffs in a reasonable price range, 80 series front diff is weak, and gq cv's arent as good. with your links i believe they must use rubber bushes or nobody will sign off on it. though i may be wrong with this.

you could use your hilux diffs, nut everybodys views and expectations do differ, so do whatever you think will suit your plans. but gu diffs are not cheap. last time i checked it was around 3500 plus for a pair

air shocks are good for rock crawling, i have heard not for anything fast though. also, we are not engineers, so no matter what anyone on here says, if you engineer says no, then you cant do it.
