We are nearly ready with the first of the Team AMADAXTREME vehicles for the challenge class and the team DGR buggy in the outlaw class.
Its going to be interesting with myself a greg with the DGR buggy considering i have never had anything to do with navying a buggy and greg has never driven a buggy , should be fun for the spectators to watch but, could be a rollover on the cards

Dave from DGR will be in NZ for that weekend.

Depends if your towing. All the roads from the the Pacific Hwy over to the New England Hwy are very hilly and wind through the mountains. :x
Either go upto Grafton across to Glenn Innes and straight upto New England Hwy to Warwick or go to Grafton upto Casino over to Tenterfield and up the New England Hwy to Warwick. I have driven all of those roads and would probably pick the first route as it's easier to follow and is the better road especially if your towing.
Hope this helps. :)

Should we pack the mud diggers or more all round tyres?

Orange Rangie will get a check over today ready for Mod class. Looking forward to watching some of xtreme guys too.

To all competitors wanting their cars to be scrutineered by Peter Kitchin on Friday or Saturday Morning, Peter is currently in and out of hospital due to illness  and won't be attending Round 1 to scrutineer, Tough Tracks will organize someone else to scrutineer vehicles on the day  , if you can see your track officials or see admin they will be able to organize someone to scrutineer your vehicle. :)

Superior Engineering is all good for this round with the 2 vehicles going in , Team AMADAXTREME ( hilux) and TEAM Superior with the buggy :drinking:

We have 2 guys doing video, Digital Still's doing photography and 6 Go-pro cameras on Comp trucks so we should get heaps of action video and photos for this round.

Also Randall from Dirt comp will be covering the action as well so keep your eyes open at the newsagents for when the article is released.

We will be there early Sat Morning at the sign-in area to assist anyone with questions for the contingency Scheme.
We will have the stickers and the competitor plates there for those who are interested.

Good luck to all competitors and hopefully this is the biggest Tough Tracks to date.

A BIG thankyou to all of the Spectators, Competitors, Club Members, officials and anyone else who attended and showed their support for the first round of the Tough Tracks 4x4 Challenge Series at Janowen Hills 4x4 Park on the weekend.
The weekend was action packed with the officials setting out some very challenging courses that kept the competitors on their toes and and trying to stay on all 4's even thou some of them didn't (hey Rob.M) :)
Also we would like to take the opertunity to thank Jan & Owen (owners of Janowen Hills 4x4 park) for once again allowing us to run our comp at their park. :)
A thankyou goes out to John from Goodyear Springwood and Dave from Ironman 4x4 for allowing us to use their vehicles for recoveries in Modified and Trophy Class.
To all of our sponsors we thankyou very much for supporting Tough Tracks 4x4 Challenge Series and are looking forward to the next 2 Rounds.
Once again thankyou all for making Round 1 a very succesful event and we will see you all again for the next 2 Rounds.

Was a great but HOT weekend. Tracks in the challenge class were some of the best yet. Had to make ya think outside the box on every track. Would have liked to see more competitors though. Looks like the Modified class has taken off really well this year. Great to see some buggies turn up for the Outlaw class. I'm pissed that I didn't get to watch them run.

All up a tops weekend.

A big  for the Club Members, Officials and Sponsors putting on this Event.

Thanks Rick for the great tracks you and others marked out. I also think the self recoveries worked well. All was done safely and thought out.

DITTO to this.
In Challenge Class the tracks were very well layed out where both the driver and navi needed to communicate well to be able to negotiate the course. Great angles that put alot of the vehicles to the edge, and sometimes over, and made the vehicles work to the best of their ability.
It would be great to see a few more competitors for Round 2 and i think we will see them with Tough Trucks out of the way as some of them are getting themselves ready for that and couldn't make it to this Round.
Looking forward to round 2 on the 28th & 29th of May.

we had some good tracks set out for outlaw class and the guys who turned up put on a good show a flop a back flip and some breakages .
thanks to mitchel and mitch and sally for helping out officialing .
bit of bad luck for greg in the buggy breaking on the first track but i am sure he will be back for round 2 .
congrats to chris and chris in the deisel shop buggy on not giving up and driving most of track 3 with only 3 wheel drive and taking out the over all win for the week end and to colin and michael in the jimny extreme for some entertaining right foot action and 2nd place overall .
the zukes of hazard guys went really well for a new and untested car for there 3rd place and will be one to look out for at round 2 .
one of the best drives i saw all weekend was team army barbie (aaron and his brother) to drive and navi such a short wheel base car through that track without hitting a cone was good to watch .

Awesome Weekend and big thanks to Tough Tracks for another Great Weekend.
I would say this is the best one to date, although i didnt get to see the Trophy and mod class, Outlaw and Challenge was great to watch.

Self recoveries made the comp move heaps faster and the new rules taken on board by the Tough Tracks Club was great to allow the cones to be used like Gates as XRCC was in the early days of Rockcrawling.

The gate system certainly makes the driver and navie think a bit more.

Awesome weekend and thanks to the volunteers and officials for all their hard work they put in to make it a better comp.

I have a few pics here but tonight and over the next few days/ probably weeks as we have so many photos of all the classes we will be uploading to our facebook page, its a lot quicker than on the forum and it wont clutter up the posts.
Thanks to the Business's that put in the raffle ( although i missed that because i was arguing with a jack daniels that i should'nt drink it :drinking:

Anyway we were lucky enough to take out all 3 tracks 1st place in challenge class as Team AMADAXTREME and that sealed a 1st overall for challenge class in Round 1.

On the downside the buggy broke straight up with a failure on the driveshaft.

Opening up the unregistered class was an awesome choice as well guys .

For those who dont have facebook i will put up some more pics in a couple of days on here.

What a weekend! Well done to the winning teams and well done to all competitors for having another crack at Tough Tracks this year. Hope to see you all and more throughout the year.

It was a busy weekend for me, had the red rocket 40 series in Trophy Class again, but driven by a good mate of mine with only one days 4x4 experience just two weeks ago at Scenic Rim. He did really well with good naving by Col, and managed to grab second place on Track 1, beginners luck maybe? Or just the brilliance of the 40 shining through... Either way he managed to not break anything, although he nearly rolled it a couple of times, and I drove it home in one piece Sunday arv.

Officialing for the first time was very interested, exhausting, and very enjoyable. I've gotta say that none of the track building cred in Challenge Class should be given to me. Although the tracks were exactly what I had hoped for, it was really Ben and Kent guiding the makeup of the course and for track 3, the competitors even got to lay out a couple of gates. Surprisingly for me Track 3 had to be the pick of the bunch, with multiple drop ins, hill climbs, gully work, side slopes and even mud, it really had everything. I was dissapointed a couple fo really minor breakages stopped a couple of cars getting to the 1000 point step on track 2, was hoping to see some good action on that climb.

Next round should see some similar layouts, Scenic Rim had a lot of rock to play with and some great creek/gully runs. Hopefully we can build some good tracks for round 2. If any Challange competitors (current or new) would like to send any feedback whether positive or negative (constructive), feel free to PM me and I will get back to you.

Thanks to all the sponsors who without them we wouldn't have a comp. Spectators and competitors should always try to get behind these sponsors where possible. I look forward to seeing some of their reps out at round 2. I know John from Springwood Goodyear was having a ball recovering for Trophy Class.

Bring on round 2!
