IFS Steering box and Pitman arm, then Histeer kit from somewhere like Locktup, Superior, Snake Racing or BudsCustoms, etc.

Fit it and your done.

For pics, look on the Locktup4x4, Superior Engineering, Snake Racing websites, and look for Histeer kits.

Basically, standard Live front axle Hilux steering is as follows...
- steering box goes to pitman arm,
- pitman arm goes forwards and backwards, depending on direction of steering,
- draglink runs from pitman arm to j-arm on drivers side front wheel,
- the tierod runs between drivers side j-arm and passenger side steering arm.

Its a fairly old kind of set up.

Running Histeer will be as follows...
- IFS steering box goes to pitman,
- pitman arm goes left and right, depending on direction of steering,
- draglink runs between pitman arm and passenger side steering arm,
- the tierod runs between passenger side steering arm and drivers side steering arm.

Histeer would be a much more stable type of set up, and running histeer will allow the front suspension to move more, giving better front end flex.

This is basically a complete histeer kit.

There is the steering damper, the tie rod and draglinks, tie rod ends, both side steering arms, and the pitman arm for the IFS steering box.

There is also mounting plates for mounting the IFS steering box to the chassis, which are in this pic.

I hope this makes sense, and Ive got it right.

I fotgot to say.

With standard steering set up, the tierod runs in front of the front diff, below the leaf springs. So its more likely to be damaged in offroad situations.

With histeer set up, the tierod runs above the leaf springs, which means that its less likely to be damaged in offroad situations.

Hope this helps.

The torque rod on top of the diff is not used with histeer it is what limits the flex also the mount is cut off the chassis as its in the way of ifs box. the box is mounted as far forward as possible, i'd say the further the better but you will probably need a spacer for the steering column. Jason

yes forward as possable is best, and a spacer or some other form of extending the steering shaft is required as said above. loctup sell shaft extensions.
