60 series auto vs manual and compatibility
hey all
i bought another 60 to replace my rusty one but the motors shot so im gonna replace its 3F with mine, however its an auto and mines a manual. will it just swap in?
also, in a 60 which is the stronger and more reliable box, its the a440f and h55f yes?
if i decide i want the manual all the manual parts should just bolt into preexisting places on the 60 body right?

the gear box mounts on the chassi are not the same from auto to manual but your motor will bolt up u just have to put all the auto stuff on it

maybe you could but on some manual models the crossmember brackets are bolted on strait 2 the chassi rails were on my auto 60 the crossmember bolts 2 brackets wich are welded on both inside and out side off my chassi

Hey mate, I have a late model 60 and recently swapped my manual to an auto. The manual crossmember was bolted to two brackets that were welded to the chassie as said above, when I came to bolt up the auto I had the auto crossmember which sits further back but it had no where to bolt up because the tabs weren't there. Ended up making my own crossmember with a U type clamp like a slider mount on each side, I thought the bolt holes in the chassie would line up because I didn't see the car that it came off but didn't happen. Hope this helps

how do you find the auto compared to the manual? power/fuel usage differences? i can see the vast improvement offroad..
i heard its a bit confusing with its gears?

If you stick with the manual use the auto transfer case, they have lower gearing, better for larger tyres.

auto's are awsome at 110kph the motor is doin 2000rpm gota love converter lockup

Mine is strictly for Offroad use, I only recently put it in and had some troubles with it first time out losing drive on winch walls. But besides that it was awesome on hills and through the rough tight stuff, loved being able to just plant the foot and take off. It feels pretty responsive and better than I thought it would be off the line and changing gears. Don't know about fuel economy as I haven't driven it enough and when I do it gets driven pretty hard.
