Track Assassin CVs
G'day all, chasing a new set of cv joints for my '84 HJ 47 and have come across both the 27 spline pair for $400 or the 30 spline with inner axles for $700. This is from Locktup 4x4. Anyone given them a go? I know that there's Longfields, but considering that I'm just running 33s, that might be a bit overkill and extra $$$.
TIA.
TIA.
Re: Track Assassin CVs
Im running them on my 75 with sticky 40's so far so good. Locktup are great to deal with. Get them for sure

Ok thanks mate.
Re: Track Assassin CVs
Does anyone know if these have been destructive tested like the longfields have?
Done a search and could not really find actual info, only a few saying they have run them and are holding up.
Also for a lux, are the 30 sline cvs stronger then 27 spline ones. (not worried about the axle strength, just cvs)
Cheers brad

Re: Track Assassin CVs
Interested to here more feeback on these too.
If running the 27 spline pair, what becomes the next weak link? The axles, hub, pinion?
My 40 probably wont ever get bigger then the 35" krawlers that are on it, but a V8/Auto is on the way.

Re: Track Assassin CVs
just for a bit of info, ive broken 1 set of 27spl longfeilds. The standard 25 year old axles held up fine.
Some people claim to have seen standard toy axles hold up with over 7000nm of torque put through them.
Why not try the track assassins? They have a thicker bell than the longs, the cage is also thicker. Not so sure on the design of the inner star.
Saying all this though, i think my set of 27spl longs are the old kind. Their new ones may be alot better.
For the price difference, give it a shot!

Re: Track Assassin CVs
I just bought a full set of the 30 spline track assassins with the longfield cromo hub gears... See how they go
Just interested if they actually have been rated (destructive wise) and if 27's are stronger or not.

Re: Track Assassin CVs
I have the 27 spline track assassins in mine.
Their build quality looks top notch to me, they fitted well to the front wth not clearencing needed and i have run them with the simexs at 8psi and they seem awesome. and the warranty is even better!!! I got quoted for a standard set of jap ones and they were going to be just below the 400 so i opted for the track assassin. As far as i know the next weak link will be the hub gear, then probably the axle and pinion. when i replaced my old birfields my passenger hub gear had blown the back off where the circlip holds it in so with a guess these will be the weaker link (in a hilux i would say)
Only time will tell, I will report back if there are any breakages!
