80 series bump stops
What's the easiest and best way to extend the bump stops on my 80?

chassis or coil hat bumpstops? front or rear? how much extension? for what reason? Are you going to be hitting the stops hard with race use or just for street use to fit tyres?

I'm sure the bump stops just bolt up, so just make a spacer to put between them and the chasi and bolt back together with a longer bolt.

They do bolt up but i wonder if just putting longer bolts in would mean they would be under a fair bit of leverage, which is why i asked if he intended to be hitting them hard with comp use or even just good old fashioned hard wheeling. They're only held on with 8mm bolts and in the normal configuration they're not that tall and wouldn't be under too much lateral force. My brother in law put 40mm pucks on the axle inside the coil so that the standard bumpstops hit earlier. I would say that you "could" just make up spacers but i'd limit it to 10-15mm. But if he's looking for a decent bumpstop increase to fit stuppedy sized tyres do it properly and make bump towers and weld them to the axle housing. Not all that hard to piss them off later if needs be.
Or you could just stop being a Hmm and get out the 4" grinder and cut the guards back till nothing touches. Make sure you post pics if you do

It's mainly so I can put longer shocks on without them bottoming out

how much do you need? If you're only talking 10-20mm then willy Lux is right about just spacing them down on the rear.
