where to find wrecked vehicles

Post by bad_religion_au »

i'm in the market for a parts rig, where do you guys find them?

and as i don't care about the body, a rusty rig from queensland may be a good choice, so roughly how much would it cost to freight a truck from queensland to Vic

thanks

Could try going to the auctions.
www.pickles.com.au

And check the damaged section. Any vehicle in this catorgory will do the job. The only limitation is that on a Stat write off you cant re-rego the chassi or body (so only good for parts and panels).

Seen some Jeeps in Jan that look like the had just been drowned (one was diffinatly drowned in a bog hole) which would have made great project cars.

you need to be a lic. motor dealer to buy from some auctions. the down side to buying a damaged vechicle is you dont know what you are getting and there are no returns or warranty. we bought a 79s 1HD-FTE from the auctions for alittle over 13,000 all to find that the motor was FAWKED, and that was with 15 thousand k's on the clock.

You will not buy a vechicle from the damage auction cheap that is half decent to drive, yes you will get a GU, 80 or 100s for less than 5grand but be where of what you are buying.

Currently we turn away 2-5 vechicles a day for around the $300 mark as we simply dont see the value in them, landcruisers both 40-60 all model hilux mq patrols basically anything from the 80s to mid 90s can be had for around 500 bucks, so what i am getting at is contact a wrecking yard near your house, tell them what you want and they will find it. we only buy some truck knowing that we can off load them the next day. as for shipping a car a one of cost about 600 bucks, do it alot and you can get melbourne to brisbane for about 350.

So why arent you getting their details and posting up the "wrecks" for those that are on the prowl for such things..... better still give them the OL addy and tell em to post up the wrecks......

I picked up an MQ swb petrol for $300 a few months back, was nothing majorly wrong just "unloved".... took a further $400 and a couple of days work to get it back registered and in RWC cond.... sold it for $1800 two weeks later, quick money makers are easy to find.
Also got given a car last week by a wrecker... yep FREE ! and its allready stripped and being resold for bits.

Hey Nick,

Assuming you are in wrecking business... I'm looking for a farm hack. Will never be registered, needs to be diesel and drivable- prefer Cruiser ute or Hilux?

See anything like that for under a grand?

:)
