Trouble bleeding clutch in GQ Patrol

I just replaced the clutch slave cyl and the clutch hose.


now i'm cant get her to bleed through, it goes rock hard, then because it's power assisted wen i start the car it goes very soft and i cant put it into gear.


any tricks? ideas? anything?

I got rid of that big loop up near the firewall (couldn't really see the point of it and it was in the way of the dump pipe). Then I just pushed the brake fluid up through the bleed nipple in the slave cylinder with a syringe, worked a treat and much easier than trying to pump it down from the reservoir.

which big loop are you talking about?

is yours vacuum assisted aswell?

It sounds like you are trying to bleed it without the engine running and hence no vacuum assist for the clutch..? Or am I reading it wrong.

i've tried bleeding it with it running and still not gettign enough stroke to disengage the clutch,

it's doing my head in!!!

where are you bleeding from? as there's a bleeder on the slave cyl itself,
but
if you trace the line back up from the slave cyl to the firewall it goes thru a little box looking thing (technical name for it eh?) and theres a bleeder there too, done the exact same thing with my old patrol spent ages bleeding it til i found the extra bleeder, it holds air and gives you a crappy pedal, should be in the passenger side corner of your engine bay nearest to the firewall but if you trace the line from the slave backwards you'll find it

what method are you bleeding it by?
the two person way?
if so, how much fluid are you getting out on each push of the pedal?
and what year is yours?
and have you bled it at both slave and the top bleed point on the passenger side back of the engine bay?

tee hee, know the feeling mate, we went thru hours of bad words and stress before finding it- even had the master cylinder out adjusting it trying to get more pedal, wasnt til we found the extra bleeder that it all seemed to make sense again :armsup:

:rofl: its there to test out how many beers you can consume to do a simple task such as bleeding a clutch, thats why its so hidden so by the time you find it you'r in all kinds of a mess. :drinking:

i would start pulling the motor out to swap it for an auto or start chopping it before i got to that stage

is yours the big coil of line, or just a hard line that goes up to it?

I recently had my MC collapse on me.
Bla bla bla
Replaced MC and SC, that coil on the left hand side is generally only on the 4.2 diesels, I eliminated it by putting a rb30 clutch rubber hose on cause my old hose was split.

Anyway, I used a speed bleeder on my clutch system, best thing ever! Well worth the money!
