disco 1 auto problems

hey ive got a 98 tdi disco 1 and my auto seems to drive great but when i back of it makes abit of a clunk once i get of the throttle. it also does it when i put it in gear (only warm not cold) it kinda seems like a diff when they have back lash but it sounds alot more like the auto??? anyone have any idea without hearing it??? ive checked the fluid and looks fine. thanks ron

Could be
1 the ball joint above the rear axle. check with big lever.
2 Just backlash in the LT230 gears.
3 wear in the output shaft from the auto to the transfer.
Usually not the auto but further along the drive train.

mine has a worn drive hub in the right wheel and it gives a mighty big clack when put in gear
1982 fj 60 with all late model gxl stuff 3 inches of lift ,snorkel ,lokker,bullbar,winch,ford 5 liter and a meggasquirt ECU
