Ive got a little problem with my injection pump. It has a leak and loose diesel....and i think its behind the pump. the same problem occure 2 weeks ago on the front side...ive replaced the O-ring from the time cover. after this it stopped leaking...juhu...but now the same problem again...but its not from the front side...but if it is from the other side i have to remove the pump in order to replace the O-ring from the other side.....so my qusestion is "IS it difficult"....ive already replaced the timing belt...ive got also a manual to remove the pump(as pdf)....but theory and practical is sometimes very different....do i need any special tools????...I got the basic tools already. And where do i get these O-rings...the injection pump is from Denso....ive got a 1988 4 Runner LN61 2L-T....i hope you can help me....
I know someone from you want to recommend me to bring my car to a workshop....but at first i will try it by myself:D....if anything goes wrong a can push the car 200 further...there is the next toyota workshop:D

Sounds like the pump is due for a rebuild.

okay...and do you know how much a rebuilt kit cost???? or where i get this???? i will ask the toyota dealer tommorow....but if someone has a tip for me dont hesitate...

ohh...i forgot something.....the pump loose fuel only when its cold....if its hot it stop leaking....

its realy a job for a diesel specialist as it has to be bench tested when done to check that the pump fuel delivery pressures are correct.

Same thing happend to mine. If you have a repair manual then it should be sweet, I managed to get mine off within a couple of hours. The worst part was the price, near on $1000, but along with seals i got some mechanical bits replaced too and it runs like a dream now.

so...hello again....after two days work ive got my injection pump out....and i think the leak is on the back site....but there are three seals which could it be......but at first a picture so you can see what i mean....
I think its number 1....cause ive cleaned the pump but the diesel is leaking a litte bit right there. so my questions is...is it possible to change this seal by myself....im not stupid in thinks like this....and do anybody know where i can get this seal...i hope you can help me....

so....im sure thats the o-ring from the distributor head.....must i take care about something when i remove the distributor head???? cause in the pdf is written down "do not put the injection pump (2L-T and w/ HAC) at an angle more than 45° from the horizontal"....what does it mean????? Whats a HAC???? Hope you can help me

Take it too a diesel pump place. You will find all seals will have gone hard and need replacing.
It's not something you should try and fix at home, it will only end in tears

okay....im not sure if I write something wrong....but id like to do it by myself....cause idont learn anything when i bring it to someone else....and i know when i do it wrong it can be broken....but before i do something i try to collect a lot of information to do it right. and please....give me some tips that i can carry on....i mean ive read in this forum that some guys have done a job (engine, turbo, injection pump....) very well....and for these guys were it the first time too....and when i do it wrong....than i know it what i can make better the next time....but this is the way how we learn things....sorry about this...but im tired to hear "bring it to a specialist"....

Every diesel pump i have ever seen pulled out has to be given to a pump specialist . It requires special machinery , to test and ensure the volume and flow of the pump is correct for the engine , ie calibrated.
Can be a bit costly to mate , just ring around and see what the go is .

i know what you mean but the pump is working very good....it has just the leak....and id like to change only the o-ring between pumphousing and distributor head....and i cant imagine that the pump need to calibrated after this job....or are there some reasons after this job????

replace number 3 o ring its the same thing that happend to me mine is fine now 6 months later i did the front one then athe back one a week later cause the back one started
