Atlas options

I am putting a V6 commo and turbo 700 into my hilux and want to order an Atlas transfer case but there are so many options with the Atlas :?

Does anyone on here have one or know much about them ?

I want to know what options are best like flanges, splines etc.

Lux t/c's can be built strong easily and there's plenty of gearing options for them as well as duals? Front dig would be sweet though. Lowrange sell a tailshaft disconnect for lux t/c's for $429.

Don't get me wrong, an Atlas would be nice - a lux t/c can just do the same thing for half the price.

I have broken 2 hilux transfers in the last 2 years :bad-words: dont want another one.

im about to order a 4speed atlas ive been told by suplier in the states that i would have to wait till mid oct for it to be ready. thats the 4 speed dont know what the lead time is on a 2 spd . im goin to go 3.8:1 in the main housing and then with the standard 2.72:1 in the planetary will also give me 10.34:1 with three sticks . 1350 flanges from high angle driveline for front and rear . high angle drive line can supply the flanges to suit whatever driveshaft combo you are running. universal cable shifters would be the way to go less mucking around with linkages and will suit any application .

4 speed has the longer wait as it has been improved from the old model by all accounts. Too many 4 speed were breaking & improvements needed to be made. I know of 2 that have broke but were both under bigger than usual HP & torque.
I have a customer ATM that will be going with an Atlas or Stak. Although his will be under a winch truck so a little more speed orientated & more likely 3.0 Atlas.

Cool I'm after a 2 speed 4 weeks lead time and am looking at getting the 5:1 ratio, the flange you mentioned 1350 what uni do you bolt up to that? that is part of my confusion. Their is all different types on their website :?

I got a 2 speed it took a little longer than normal cos I wa getting one for a c4, I got Toyota flanges for mine and I went cable shifter aswell. I went thru snake for mine

all depends on what unis you want to run the high angle drive line flange is good cause it fits the atlas perfect and is built esecially for the atlas you could then machine that flange down and re drill the correct pcd for your application just heaps easier than ordering with a yoke then trying to get the right uni to suit . if you order from advance adapters order it with the 1350 non cv yokes then you can get the 1350 flanges from high angle driveline $100 each plus freight and remove the yokes and install the flanges and they will fit perfectly they can also supply you with a blank flange and you could drill your own pcd or even better let them know your exact pcd and get em to drill em for you made to order.

Umm..no it can't.

A turd that's polished to a mirror finish is still a turd.

You would easily spend the purchase price of a built Atlas in repairs on Hilux crap over and over, and it will never perform the same or withstand the same punishment as an Atlas.

I bought mine from marks adaptors, they had on left at the time.

Look up the site for options.
A stock as a rock atlas will be plenty for a Lux, but you can go for bigger 32 spline outputs etc, but I wouldn't bother without running a matched transmission like the th400 etc,
Why go an atlas though?

Run a patrol case with a marks adaptor. Not sure if outputs are on the correct side for a lux, but a patrol case is sub $200.

Then regear it to the reduction ratio you want, buy the adaptor, figure out matching output shafts to tailshafts....... you end up spending as much as an atlas, and you still cant do a dig and look cool...... ;)

Atlas' can also be clocked to suit drop and also clear floorpans.... will a GQ/GU case fit a lux without a BL? Does the Marks adaptor allow you to clock a GU transfer, or one position only?
